Some housing communities forbid vehicles parked in the driveway or on the street overnight. Not mine. I do know that some potential buyers have that issue.

ordered the Cybertruck and super excited about it. I measured my garage yesterday and was happy to find out it's 24x24' (my wife's car is a CR-V).
I have a question about adding a Tesla charger to the home: can any existing Tesla owners shed some light about the process, costs, space requirements for this in-home car charger?
Pretty simple. You buy the charger on Tesla and get it shipped. You can hire a local electrician to install.

The CT will come with a charger that works on 120V, but you're gonna want to upgrade.

The Gen 2 charger is available from Tesla.com for $475, https://shop.tesla.com/product/gloss-black-wall-connector---gen-2 That'll do the job.

It will need a double breaker in your panel. Some people do this themselves (I did), but if you're not familiar with working in a panel you will probably want to hire an electrician. The cost of hiring a electrician can vary greatly depending on your panel, how far away the charger is and other stuff.

Its possible. One issue I see with the Gen 3 charger is it is too short, hopefully they release a new version with a longer cord. The Gen 2 had a 24' long cable.

Also, the Gen 3 charger only supports up to a 48 amp charger, while the Gen 2 goes to 80 Amps I believe. Only some legacy Tesla car's support higher then 48 amp charger, so it doesn't matter for the current offerings.

I am hesitent to get a charger until we know more about if the charging situation for the Cybertruck will be in any way different. Will it also have a 48 amp charger, or will it include a higher Amp charger? How long of a cord will be required to charge it if you don't want to back your vehicle into its spot?

EDIT: Also, for my model 3 I just use the Mobile Connector to a NEMA 14-50 outlet I installed in my garage. It works great and didn't cost me much. I will likely be able to use it with the Cybertruck as well, but when I get the CT my wife gets the Model 3 and I am interested in using Power Sharing with two Wall Connector's chained together so we can both charge at the same time.

I’m with you! My garage isn’t exactly huge, but it is 20’x20’ two car and I have an additional 10’x19’11” third car garage, but that’s used as a gym and workshop. I think the 20’x20’ should work. Although my wife wants to upgrade from 2012 4 Runner to a Sequoia.

I’m fine with the garage or the driveway. I can place the charger on the exterior of the garage.
I'm coming to your house to charge my truck!

I like the decision to keep it to the original. But then again, I love large vehicles.

Given the high demand, two different size choice won't be a bad choice for Tesla.

Yes, they can. Do a Google search about homeowner’s association disputes. People can be fined for violating stuff like color of your house paint or the fence color. A friend of mine lost a court case over this. Had to paint his plastic fence due to wrong shade. People have been fined so much for flying the American flag on their property in violation of HOA covenants that they lost their home. My personal HOA has rules on the color of the shingles on the roof!

HOAs have way too much power but that's the way our government works at least is not all in a single person's hands.

I think there would be a market for two sizes of Cybertrucks in the US. A full size CT and a mid size CT that is roughly 30% smaller in overall dimensions.
I was thinking 20% shorter and pretty much the same dimensions otherwise but yeah I agree. And it will probably be about $30,000 and will be the cheapest Tesla ever.

All 16000+ Superchargers are mainly outdoors, some in very cold climates...In fact I know of very few charging stations regardless of brands, that are indoors; they do exist but very few.
Yes, the fact that the CT is electric makes it more complicated than ICE trucks which are “meant to be kept outside.”

Tesla says their chargers can be used outdoors but finding a location and getting 220v there can be complicated.

There’s also the question of temperature regulation for the batteries, which like to stay in a pretty narrow temp range. If you park your CT out in the cold it will use lots of energy keeping the battery warm, versus parking in an insulated or (even better) climate controlled garage.

With all that in mind I’m surprised the CT wasn’t designed from the start to fit in a “standard” garage.

Maybe that's the ONLY thing that's more complicated versus an ICE vehicle. And a small price to pay for performance that FAR exceeds ICE vehicles. The only way you are going to loose a lot of range due to cold weather is if you don't drive your CT for a long time and leave it in the cold, as I am sure they think of these things during the design process. Also, this doesn't seem to be a big issue with all the hybrid and EVs already out there, because you rarely hear about it.

My friend has a Model S and he says he loses 20-30% when it is below freezing. And that is after leaving it plugged in outside his house.

Notice that (on the Bolt at least) the battery warmer runs 100% when the ambient temp is below -13F, which means it is impossible to charge the car on 110V at that temp.

Of course there are lots of advantages that EVs have over ICE vehicles. I was just pointing out that there are advantages to keeping them climate controlled, and all the people planning to park them in the snow because “it’s a stainless steel truck” should expect to waste some energy, charge slower and lose a bit more range than if it was parked in a heated garage.
