I’m planning on ordering a 2025 Beast. Wondering if the “fixes@ I read about regarding the extra slat and new seals being installed, are being done to the trucks produced now. Seems like I see mixed reviews on how some people are being told that the vault is not water tight and others are having the trucks modified by Tesla to resolve the issue.

It will never be water tight. There were some cases where the weather stripping had a gap which caused a bit of an excess of water that some folks had corrected, or fixed/improved themselves.

Best bet, do not store anything in the vault that cannot get wet.

I got some IP-rated husky boxes from Home Depot like others here have because it's simply not water tight. It does FINE in rain etc, but a concentrated stream will get in. Period.

The bed is not water tight and air tight like doors or trunks/frunks (and not designed to be), but you definitely shouldn’t get water leaking in during normal driving/parked in rain storms with the original design. I haven’t tried automatic car washes - with a pressurized spray from the right direction you’ll probably get a little water making it in no matter what.

The extra slat was cosmetic, unrelated to water ingress. All the water issues I’ve seen are from a poor install of the adhesive backed seal between the tonneau appliqué and the glass. A small $5 adhesive backed window seal/weather strip from a local hardware fixes the leak easily if you happen to get a truck with a bad seal. I remove and install the appliqué frequently (every time the tent is setup) and it’s remained water tight for 6+ months.

Thank you. I actually spoke to Tesla today. The rep told me that the reason for the different actions of the service centers is because some of the trucks that were brought in likely had an issue with the process that attempts to keep water out of the bed. I would agree that it’s not “watertight” but some seem way worse than others , and I guess there are just too many variables in regards to how the water gets in there.

Could you share some more details about what you did? What kind of strip? Where did you put it? Any special adhesive ? This is an ongoing problem for me. My bed floods every time it rains.
I’ve had it at the service center and they did the slat repair thing. Didn’t change much.

Took my CT to SC for same "issue" was told by technician that it is not water tight and within specs.

Took ours to Service Center - they said it needed an extra slat. They repaired that, and it still leaks, but 90% improvement (so it's worth your time). Will probably do the weather stripping hack when it gets closer to monsoon season.

My SC finally said they would provide the extra slat, but with the weather stripping it's almost waterproof and 2 others they had with the slat were not. I decided the looks of the extra slat weren't worth the risk of more water.
