I went back to the original video, and the light is coming from the side almost 90° to the side.. I don’t think it’s a reflection of the pavement. It may be something to do with crash worthiness for pedestrians. A new bumper design?
Arrow is almost exactly parallel to that dude's shadow.

It's just the same front angled piece not getting much light and angled away from the source of light.

That's a bit pessimistic, but okay.

Nah. The pessimists are saying the price is going to more than double. Then pre-orders would crash and he'd get his truck in March of 2022.

2+ years is a cautious guess. The kind of estimate you make when you are excited about something but don't want to be disappointed later on.

I bet the camouflaged Rivians really were set up to draw attention to themselves.
Also, some spy-shots look pre-arranged.

"How did that photographer know to show up at turn 2 of that random racetrack at 7:30am on a Thursday morning?

Obviously, the PR people told the automotive paparazzi when and where they needed to be with their cameras. Wink, wink.

I still cant bring myself to see the $70k value of the rivian truck. The $70k ICE trucks out there right now seem way cooler. Now the CT... thats a $70k truck.
I agree that the Cybertruck looks like a better value on paper, especially since my use-case involves towing a travel trailer and long-term ownership (stainless steel is better for that).

Rivian is the home team here in Illinois, though, and I want then to succeed too!

I plan to drive them all, and buy the best truck for what I do!

I took delivery of a Model Y yesterday. I made the order several months ago guessing that things would get delayed with the Cybertruck. First one occurred (obviously) recently. I think there will be more but 2+ years I don't know.

I wouldn’t post this but…..apparently someone likes to quote the forum here on YouTube.

WTF?

This video just pulls our conversation from this thread as the script for the video!! Definitely not to my liking.

Precisely. Tempering expectations.

While I wouldn't be happy for the preorders to drop by 50% for I-support-the-mission reasons, I would LOVE to get my truck that much faster.

1. Adding a copyright tagline to my posts now.
2. Filing a complaint with YouTube.

In this case, it was likely an iPhone camera which records a few seconds of video on either side of the still. It's likely the photographer just snapped a few quick shots which sucked so they made some crappy videos out of it. We looked anyhow.
My Android Pixel does the same thing. I thought all phones had that set up on them but apparently not.
