I got 14.2 on my CT prior to a long trip to Florida (which I’ve made many times). I was anxious to see how much better it was than v13. The start of the trip went fine while on I-10 (most of the journey) but when I hit I-75 and fast moving heavy traffic, the truck kept rocking back and forth within the lane. I could see the steering wheel making adjustments to driving and the oscillations got so bad I had to take over. This section of I-75 was recently paved and in great shape. I was in the middle of the three lane stretch. Since then, I’ve noticed the issue in other types of road where the speed is greater than 45 mph. Anyone else experience their CT having issues driving down a straight section of highway (or interstate) where the truck is weaving in the lane?

Mine hasn’t gotten so bad I had to take over but I definitely feel the truck “driving” more on straight roads where before it didn’t really seem to if that makes sense.

Had some oscillating wheel myself when the truck seemed to have a moment of indecision, as if its selected lane was not a good choice. Which it was questionable at the time, FSD or no.

Also, my CT is turning into the far lane on turns, not the closest. Is this normal behavior? Not my type of driving, and I remember v13 did not do this. Sorry not here to hijack the thread.

A new section of road just opened, from single to double lane. When I drove on it with FSD 14.2, my steering wheel was oscillating between the two lanes. I had to take over.
Next day driving on the same section of new road, CT didn't do that, it pick the right side of the road.

I haven't had the Autopilot "ping-pong" problem since they first released FSD and haven't had lane positioning issues since, I think, version 13 or so.

If your issues continue, I would try a camera recalibration and if that doesn't fix it, take it into Tesla Service.

I wonder if a drop of water acting like a lens on one of the cameras could cause some variability. I always keep my cameras buffed with a microfiber rag that has trace amounts of carnuba car wax on it. When I say "trace" amounts, I mean trace. Just use a wax applicator to apply a thin coat of wax to a square foot of clean painted surface and buff it off with a clean microfiber cloth. Now use that as your camera cleaning cloth.

I have seen this yes too -- it's more pronounced on 14.2

On 14.2.1 it seems to do when it wants to merge into a lane on the freeway, but I have had it do this when it misjudges a left hand turn and ends up in the middle of the lane. The oscillations require immediate driver intervention, in one case I started getting heavy body roll and it was extremely confusing for drivers behind me. I report it but don't think a soul listens to those reports.

Sounds scary. I have not encountered anything like that on all my highway driving. Strange the inconsistencies between trucks.
