I have the same whirling noise at dash area. Starting 40MPH
Anyone had this fixed? Or know what it is?

Starting at 40 mph. (constant)
Goes away when in a turn.
comes back when not in a turn.
Cuts out around 17MPH.
Did not have noise until I hit ~4000miles. (October 2024)

service told me that it was radiator fan.
If so, why would it disappear when on a turn?
I would say that it’s definitely not radiator fan. I would literally just show them this thread.

I joined the forum to find info on this very issue. Didn't see anything over on TMC about it.
I hope the (awesome) service guys here in Colorado can apply the superbottle fix @Guylouis mentioned.
Kind Regards

Good evening,

I have the same troublesome noise too since delivery (Nov 2024). Service center said they didn't notice/hear anything. I sure hear it! Every morning to work and coming home too. Another service is scheduled on top of the other issues I'm having...I love the truck but she's a Heartbreaker at times.

When you apply torque to a rotating object, it resists changing angle, which can cause additional wear or noise. Grab a desk fan and wave it around.

Some others found the supermanifold for the heat pump caused noises while turning when it was beginning to fail, but that was a watery noise as bubbles moved from one valve to another.

Good luck at getting it fixed! Can't know all the ways things can go wrong until it does.

**Update**
-Dropped off truck at Service Center.
-Tech said he can't hear anything unusual and it sounds normal.
-Tech asked if the CT was my first EV...I said no, it's my 3rd tesla.
-after coming back from the "within spec test drive" the Service people said they'll look into the issue and try to re-evaluate. I have faith in them...they typically have good service and do a good job.

In additon to the strange noise, They will be attending to the adaptive ride control degrade, stability control disabled, etc...issue...and the vibrating noise from the dash issue, and the "within spec" tonneau cover issue.

I will update what they did or didn't find concerning the weird noise as soon as I get the truck back.

Until then....everyone stay within spec!!! And keep on truck'n!

Vin 58k truck just developed the noise for me, then again it is really cold out right now. Maybe it’ll disappear when it warms up

I have this same motor noise issue. Service said Tesla mothership said it’s normal. It doesn’t seem normal. I also have a rattle in the air vents under the dash they can’t fix currently. Any rough road it triggers it.

It is definitely not a rattle. At first it clearly sounds like wind noise, but then you start playing with your speed and you realize it can’t be wind noise. I’m going to try and attach a video clip, the sound starts at 44 mph, so I immediately let off and you will hear the sound continue all the way down to the mid 20s where it wasn’t audible just a few moments ago. Once the sound is occurring, if I tap the accelerator, the sound goes away and then immediately comes back when I let off the pedal.

I searched this forum because I have the same exact noise. I've read through the threads in this posts and there doesn't seem to be anyone that's had this solved. Is that still the case? I was going to take it into Tesla, but don't want to spend a bunch of time only to have them tell me that it's within spec.

For me, the noise starts around 20mph. It's constant, whether cold weather or warm weather. It's never not there and it drives me crazy.

Got my CT in Nov, currently 3,000 miles. I believe I noticed the noise pretty much as soon as I got the truck. VIN xxx41840

Hello,

My CT has the same noise too. It occurs at around 45mph.

I purchased the CT(dual mtr) in Nov/2024, currently at 2k miles, vin 5xxxx.

Two different service locations and the service techs look at me like I'm crazy. They can't hear it.

Test drove a CT today, same model as mine. Same noise. Is it just a common sound?😵💫

I’ll be honest. I think I’m used to it now, I haven’t cared enough to pay attention to it for a week. Just gonna chalk it up as a common noise

Same. Wasn't able to duplicate the noise with the tech during ride-along. The noise seems to go away after 15-20min of driving. They still ran a coolant purge but the noise still exists...

Hopefully it's not a major issue.

After a long road trip a month ago, I started to hear a weird noise from somewhere in the dash area whenever my truck hits around 40 mph. It’s not wind noise because the noise will remain as I slow down to 30, but it will get louder as I increase speed until it disappears around 45. It will also go away if I make a sudden left or right turns while not decreasing my speed. It almost sounds like a fine crackling that you would hear scanning radio waves for an open signal. Not static, but weak crackling that could be coming from the front speaker, or possibly some sort of audible cavitation in a fluid line that builds pressure with speed? It’s definitely not coming from any of the other speakers, so I can’t definitively say it’s coming from a speaker at all, but it is consistent, repeatable and kind of annoying at those speeds without music on. I have a video, but don’t want to deal with uploading such a large file if it’s easier to just discuss it here.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Did you ever get your issue fixed?

No, but it’s more because I live in a state without a Tesla dealership so I can only visit a service center when I’m out of town. My most recent visit was in Charlotte, and I uncharacteristically was able to park my truck in a conditioned garage overnight beforehand. When I went to drive it to the SC the next morning there was no sound at all. I think it absolutely now has something to do with the outside temperature and some sort of pump that is spooling up relative to medium speeds of the truck. It is 70° where I live today, and I don’t hear the noise at all. But I will definitely hear it if the temperature drops below 40° in the morning.
