I get it how important aerodynamics are for range. I think all of the renderings with lots of permanent mounted lights and racks are impractical and a bit silly. That is why it would be important to me to have 6 built in flush receptacles to install an easily removable full length lumber/ladder rack for local use. I would want to remove/install it easy without assistance or tools (Pair of longitudinal members with folding vertical members and removable/adjustable cross members that could all break down and be stowed inside the vault clamped to a rack would suffice) . A flush receptacle at each corner on outer edges of the bumpers and a pair at the aft end of cab roof would be adequate. Could be designed to install offset to either side with three of the legs extended to the ground so a canopy could attach to it. Covered area along the side of truck could be used for work or camp shelter.

An integral winch with front and rear cables would be cool.

Keep it all clean and flush.

One of the most surprising things to me was how small drag is relative to the other forces in a moving automobile. Let's say you put something on your truck that adds 10 lbs drag. That means you will waste an additional 10*5280 = 52,800 ft-lbs of energy in driving a mile. That's about 20 Wh. Assuming 450 Wh/mi for the CT this represents an increase of 4.4% for a loss of about 22 miles out of 500. Is that insignificant? No, but it is small. And yet makes it clear why then want to eliminate every ounce of drag they can.

This video states that changing the hub caps changes your mileage-add your mounted system with a change in hub caps-thats a lot of mileage lost.

The commute between my NC mountain home to my Fl home is 500 miles. I would not do anything to cut into the advertised 500+ mile range.

A passthrough so I can sleep in the vault but have access to the cab to watch movie on screen .
I think Elon has said that is going to happen behind the center seat in the back row.

Bringing this idea over from Reddit...

In place of side mirrors, do this: Heads up display projection side view displays. One above each hand on the steering wheel. They would be about where a motorcyclist has mirrors.

And you could even incorporate some basic info onto those displays. Like MPH, estimated range, upcoming turns, etc.

Flat glass does simplify optics. I doubt it will happen though as FSD will be here or closer at least. I had expected HUD for Model 3 but for most people center display works fine.

You can buy aftermarket HUD for $30 to $300. I bought a cheap one and stopped using it once novelty wore off.

If Tesla comes up with some AR glasses, then that might be interesting.

My guess is rear window will roll down. This will allow ventilation to vault. Kids and maybe some adults might be able to squeeze through opening.

I'd love to see bigger pass through like Bollinger, but I think tonneau roll down area and structural design precludes this. Maybe there will be a future SUV version.
