I think we have several threads about public reactions to the Cybertruck. Thumbs up, thumbs down, the one finger flip off - all directed toward the CT and driver. I have tried to compile the top ten reasons for the negative reactions. What did I miss?

(My advice is enjoy :giggle: the attention, relish the ride and send back love)

Top 10 Reasons for the hate:

1) They are jealous that you actually OWN one

2) It is simply too ugly to be on the road, its very sight is personally offensive

3) They hate on ELON for what he has done, (doesn't matter-whatever, whoever, whenever and forever)

4) It is not green enough, or it is too green

5) All EV drivers = Liberals

6) Conspicuous $$$ consumption, another rich Ferrari driver, use your money more responsibly, you rich Bastard

7) You are driving too slow in the fast lane, (and yes, there is a SPECIAL HELL for these people!)

8) They actually know a Cybertruck owner, and assume all owners are like that guy.

9) You cut them off two miles back, or another Cybertruck did two weeks ago… they all look alike.

10) It is NOT even about the Cybertruck at all, it IS directed at YOU

Nobody flips off a guy who just bought a z06 corvette. Yet the durable faster CT for some reason spawns peoples reactions.

When someone comes off negatively I just call them a commie. Then bring up this is the most American made truck.

I have two Teslas and definitely not a liberal

12 - there are people who are offended by everything in the world and they are sad.

13 - Diesel truck people who can’t fathom the thought of not owning a diesel, not belching our black smoke, and not making thunderous noises with their trucks for their entire life

So far I have seen 2 birds.

One was a white guy in a dodge charger. He was probably about 40. It was one of those cars that makes so much exhaust noise. I assumed he was mad that he wasn’t getting the attention mommy never gave him.

There was also a 40-50 year old white woman in a honda SUV. No theory on that one lol.

#14 Tribe mentality.

I wanted something different, fast, quiet, less maintenance, fill-up at home and new tech. I'm an old computer guy and early adopter. I didn't sacrifice ICE to try EV. You can have both. Common sense stuff and no politics to it for me.

I'm guessing that it's just group think bias. They're in their echo chamber and something about the CT challenges their sad little paradygm in one or more ways. If you aren't getting reactions like this, then it isn't innovative enough!

It seems like even some Tesla owners are expressing dislike for the Cybertruck. It could be due to its polarizing and seemingly "crude" design. Some might be upset about the price hikes, while others may be frustrated that people who reserved later and paid a $20k fee are receiving their trucks earlier than those who reserved first.
Also some seem to equate the Cybertruck with Elon Musk himself, or perceive Cybertruck owners as having benefited at their expense, particularly those who have lost money on Tesla stock.
I'm not a fan of Elon and I've also lost money on Tesla stock. But I like the truck and that's the only reason I bought it.

And I'd like to urge other owners not to drive recklessly or retaliate, even if provoked by these rude individuals

I don't care what the reasons for the middle finger are. I plan to respond with a nod, a smile, and a thumbs up whenever I can.
That's the best response, a big smile and an enthusiastic thumbs up, just like you thought you were responding to another Cybertruck fan. 🤪

Don't let the idiots in this world get you down!

Nothing but extremely positive reactions so far, including a “chefs kiss” from a guy on a motorcycle.

Guys an older pick ups (10 years old or more) tend to thumbs up or ask about it.

Could be my imagination, but I’ve specifically noticed anyone in higher-end newer pick ups (lifted, top level, etc) drive past me as if they don’t even see the truck. Anything that was likely $60k or more. Just complete stare ahead.

I’ve received more than a few birds now as well, there’s certainly something off with people who choose to flip the bird at someone based on the vehicle they drive if you ask me. I just ignore it. There’s plenty of vehicles i don’t care for and certainly would never consider owning, but I’ve never felt the need to communicate my own personal opinion to those owners.

I bought the CT for its functionality, durability, and I do like the design. I don’t care if others don’t like it for one reason or another. What i don’t get is why some people feel compelled to flip someone off they don’t know. My daughters are in the truck frequently, they don’t need to see that type of behavior.

Tesla drivers would frequently wave to each other before, but after the Model 3 really started ramping up it seemed to start dying off, they were more and more common, people probably got tired of waving. I’m guessing these bird flippers will mostly grow tired of trying to flip off every CT they see eventually, especially if they’re not getting the reaction they seem to expect.

I will say the positive reactions certainly outweigh the negative.
