Has anyone looked into this? I just saw a wrecked model as plaid for sale and started wondering if those motors would fit the cyber beast. Seems like the cyber beast is only 845 hp, the model has plaid is 1020. If they fit, it would seem like an easy upgrade

I’d bet there the same motors. S plaid is about 1/2 the weight, but just a guess.

Sure, I get it weighs less, but the spec list is more HP and torque, so it’s a different motor I’d say. Just don’t know if it fits

Nothin’ a welder and some duct tape won’t fix.

Tesla Cybertruck Will model S plaid motors fit the cyber truck motor mounts? IMG_9041

😁

If we’re talking about updating motors on the same, but newer, model that’s one thing. Between an S to a CT, that’s another.

Looks like the castings are different.

Even if the motors could be mounted, still leaves the question if all the wiring will work. No clue if it makes a difference, but the S is on a 12v system and a CT is on a 48v system. S is also on a 400v HV system while the CT is on an 800v HV system.

Last but not least, gearing. IIRC, the final drive ratio in a CT is higher [numerically] to deal with the taller tires and higher vehicle weight. Even if an S motor has more torque, it’ll lose that advantage with a lower [numerically] final drive ratio.

I agree. Great analysis.

Cybertruck wheel torque is ~30% more than the Plaid due to almost double the gear reduction (15.02:1 vs 7.56:1). So, if anything, swapping would reduce acceleration at the low end. Higher HP might improve top speed and acceleration at higher speeds.
