I’m guessing there’s some kind of supplier bottle neck in relation to the beast. They would be making much more profit on them over the AWD. Anyone heard why they are being produced in such small numbers?

First, the 1/3 is a number based on a set of users that may or may not be accurate.

Even before the invitations (at least second set) were sent out, Tesla had decided to tune the production line to one model first. As with other cars, the highest-end model wasn't chosen first.
The current estimates for the Beast are 2nd half of this year. In the first batch of invitations, it was listed as Dec-Mar, but it seems as if Tesla changed their mind, because all invites now indicate 2nd half this year.

I believe that Tesla is focusing on what they expect their #1 seller is going to be, and in the other cars, that's the AWD dual-motor.
