Worth asking... Does a Vehicle wrap either PPF or Vinyl - increase, decrease or retain the CT value for resale after 1 yr contract.

For example does Tesla buy back the CT with the wrap and add value to it, or do they remove it and not add value? Has anyone ever traded in a tesla that has been wrapped? does it increase the value of it?

Or ... Is it better to sell the CT outright with the wrap on it to a private buyer...

In the end... Im more curious if the wrap is for cosmetic purposes or do dealerships like Tesla and other places if you were to trade the CT in after a year, does it help the value of the CT?

I wouldn't buy a wrapped CT. If I wrap, I want to pick who's wrapping it and make sure I get it done the way I want it done. Maybe if Tesla wraps it then it can be considered a "factory" offered upgrade, but zero chance I'd buy used with a third party wrap.

Wraps aren't new.

Typically you'll see a discount for wrapped vehicles as:
- Don't know what the finish is like underneath - same goes for Cybertruck, could be masking the stainless that is scratched to all $%R or bondo-filled bullet holes from JerryRigEverything
- wraps don't last forever - at some point they need to be removed and there could be damage to the finish underneath when removed, not sure how this goes with whatever finish is on the stainless
- Wraps wear, more so than paint - so they can look tired, fast, if not well maintained
- a buyer has to want the same color/type of wrap you have applied - maybe you put on 3M and the buyers you've got like SunTek, then it will cost them money to remove your wrap before they pay to apply a new wrap and will discount the purchase price accordingly

If you're planning to remove the wrap before selling, which is probably your best financial play, then it doesn't matter.

I wouldn't buy a wrapped one if there was an unwrapped one available for the same price. Even if I wanted a wrap for a different color/look, it would be quite a coincidence if the ones offered would have the color I wanted. And the stainless steel doesn't need protection, it can be polished to like new condition about as easily as a wrap can be removed.

I really don't understand wrapping bare metal in plastic. I don't have any huge hate for plastic if it improves my life, but I'm always happy when I can avoid plastic. It's a petroleum product.

It is a decrease.
Any time you modify a factory vehicle there is risk, you also limit the number of potential customers and that decreases value.

Don't worry about wrapping it though. FS are going to take a huge hit in value so slapping a wrap on it is not going to move the needle much.

The true answer is it all depends. Just like there are people who would never buy a CT, and other who put a deposit down in 2019 and couldn't wait to take delivery.

Personally, I am dropping my CT off tomorrow for a full body clear PPF, 1) because I don't want to hear/deal with all the finger prints and 2) because I want to protect its original factory look. With that said, I am someone who actually likes the factory look, and I am not trying to do a color change. However, everyone is different, and everyone is going to add their unique style and flair to everything their own, especially their CT.

Let's not forget the fact that the pickup/off-road market is one of the biggest aftermarket modification markets. in 3-5 years, it is going to be really cool to see what OEM modifications are going to be available for the CT.
