day one reservation holder (reservation still intact)-it's an amazing machine-please make sure to write that Elon/Tesla should produce/launch a smaller variant cybertruck-I'm patiently waiting.

It’s already not that big. Shorter than most “extended” cab (not to be confused with full cab) trucks. And it’s super maneuverable thanks to SBW/4WS. If you want smaller for some reason, Rivian could use some customers.

Can you link to the lie-containing articles, if you have them handy? Sounds like you guys have had a rough time talking to writers.
Pretty much every article you’ve ever seen on this truck has been written by misinformed “journalists” who have never been behind a squircle. I get that you’re trying to be different, or at least claiming to be.

Here’s an idea, go take a free test drive. Tesla offers extended ones. Go experience it for a weekend and write whatever you want after that.

I actually did do a test drive! Twice. It was a very odd experience. Again, I'm not a car expert by any stretch of the imagination, so all the technical stuff is beyond me. It just seems like a super controversial car to own, especially right now, so I'm super curious about what makes people buy and keep them. Thank you all so much for your responses, this is a really interesting discussion.

If you’ve driven one and wonder why people buy and keep them, yeah, I agree, you’re not a car expert or even a “car guy” novice. It doesn’t take more than a 15 year old with a learner’s permit to come to the realization that this is the greatest vehicle ever conceived. You’re obviously trolling, and we don’t appreciate it here.

OK, so you’re not a car guy and you want to write an article about people who own a car you describe as “super controversial.” You’ve been asked multiple times already to provide examples of what you’ve written in the past so the people you’re asking for help can judge your motives and you haven’t provided anything in response, so apparently you’re not comfortable being upfront with people here. That’s a nope for me.

Hi everyone, any current or former Cybertruck owners out there willing to talk to me, a writer working on an article about the cultural impact of the vehicle? On background or anonymous is fine, if you prefer. Please let me know, and thank you!
If you’re not a “Car Guy”, why are you writing about a truck? Print this………. SUCK IT

You know, they were explicit in what they are writing about: cultural impact of the truck. You can rest assured that that part is already written. As far as the perspective of owners …

I’m pretty sure you’re giving them exactly what they want. All of these reactions are being noted and probably are going right into the article:

“hostile, rude, juvenile, vulgar, etc. and so forth. Looks like CT owners are everything we say they are … .”

I'm with you and also certain that this will be a part of the "super controversial" truck ownership hit piece.

What this, and ALL other main stream "journalists" fail to realize that they've lost their relevance, they lost the trust and I'd say majority does not trust them anymore, they exchanged objectivity for political correctness and advertiser's money - they became peddling of twisted facts at best and outright liars most of the time. As evidenced by this thread, hearing "I'm a journalist" does not excite people anymore, does not turn towards them to share their story, facts, opinion. Quite the contrary, people cringe with disgust, immediately distancing and removing themselves from any further contact in full expectation that the produced material will not even resemble the told story.

Journalism is gone. It was killed and sold by the very same people who were supposed to uphold it. Hit-piece activism has replaced it, and normal people dont like it.

They are gonna write that anyway. Let him rent one and have a FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE without bias. Collecting second hand information is a part of journalism but ultimately it comes down to what he writes. And most likely will be negative. He/She will take the one negative and that will be basis of the article. I’m tired of the people who have never driven one, sat it one, or owned one telling me how bad the truck is. I WILL NOT BE SILENCED ! Remember we as owners are just people with too much money that want to show off, and be the center of attention , blah, blah, blah

Explain why it’s controversial? It’s just a car.

Most of us ordered the truck when the only thing controversial about was the look. I ordered it because I was a structural engineer in a prior life and the Cybertruck is really a function-over-form design; an engineer’s design. The people that said the Cybertruck is ugly have clearly never questioned the design of trucks because they are all butt ugly. Yes, Elon has shown his true colors, and that is what it is, but Tesla is making awesome vehicles and is almost single-handedly changing the world. You do not need to be a car or truck expert to appreciate the Cybertruck, but you ‘do’ need to be a driver with experience driving lots of vehicles. Otherwise you really have no business writing about cars to begin with.

I think s/he is showing their true colors in that comment; it isn’t about the car but the perception of the car, the company, and Elon. If I cared about any of those things, about any purchase I make, I think I’d be living in a cave and hunting down my own food because politically we cannot trust anyone anymore. So we have to decide what we want/need and ignore the hyperbole.

the only thing controversial about this thread is journalists who refuse to supply links to prior writing. I’ve worked with dozens of journalists, all readily provide links.

nothing controversial about Cybertruck, it’s an amazing piece of engineering and a capable truck. anything else is writers projecting something about themselves onto a vehicle. curious, maybe see a psychologist?
