Yes. Your greatness is surpassed only by your humility. ?
I don’t actually believe this guy is even a journalist. I did not read all 10 pages but no one would sit down for an interview without understanding the journalist’s body of work or their agenda. This guy came here to write a hit piece with some different angle and if that’s wrong then he should at least fess up to his previous work or he is just a troll.

If I plant some trees and own an EV does that make me far left?
Hell, is RFK far right?
The game is already lost when people use terms like left and right in my opinion because those descriptors immediately conjure up all the years of divisionist media indoctrination from fox and cnn or msnbc.
the simple mind always wants to categorize others into “like me” and “not like me” and thats what helps those companies “sell” so much media. Comforting the simple mind.
The actual reality of modern society is much more complex than that. It’s not binary. It’s a spectrum of opinions that bundle different ideologies together.

In long form you basically made my point to BrockN Said to whom I asked the question to because of his assumptions about Elon. My question was to say, you're neither just because you do something one side or the other does.

Maybe you will listen to my issue with the CT that Tesla won't help me with?

I'm with you and also certain that this will be a part of the "super controversial" truck ownership hit piece.
Yep, MSM thinks they have Elon and Tesla on the run and they can give him a quick left when they think he's down and finish him off. MSM thinks they are still relevant, that they can dissuade people from buying his products, bankrupt Tesla, and pump new life into Ford, GM, Stellantis, Volvo, etc. But the jokes on them, Elon isn't "down", he's been repositioning himself to suddenly morph into much larger, more profitable industries before MSM realizes what hit them.

What this, and ALL other main stream "journalists" fail to realize that they've lost their relevance, they lost the trust and I'd say majority does not trust them anymore, they exchanged objectivity for political correctness and advertiser's money - they became peddling of twisted facts at best and outright liars most of the time.
Exactly. But the dumbest amongst them still have grandiose visions of the power of their pens, however misguided that may be.

As evidenced by this thread, hearing "I'm a journalist" does not excite people anymore, does not turn towards them to share their story, facts, opinion.
Need I remind you, this so called "writer" didn't even have the balls to call herself a journalist. She thought she could fool us by calling herself a "writer". And, regardless of the terminology used, what kind of either "writer" or "journalist" wants to remain anonymous? There was a day when both writers and journalists were proud of their names and reputations, so much so they used it as their calling card. Now they hide behind the curtain of anonymity used by blackmailers and hitmen, so as to not alert their prey. Disgusting.

How can so-called "journalists" even live with themselves anymore considering they have to use euphemisms to describe what they do?

Hi again, Bob

wanted to follow up to see if you had a portfolio you can share of your prior work.
She must be ashamed of her prior writings. And, if the name of this so called "writer" is "Bob", my name is "Little Miss Muffet" and I'm a queer demisexual, bi-curious ceterosexual dom with gender dysphoria. I won't get into my pronouns yet, but they are absolutely fascinating!

The so-called "writer" gave herself away as a far-left activist trying to sway popular opinion to her extreme agenda when she referred to Elon as "far right". I mean Trump campaigned on a populist platform with Elon by his side. They won a decisive victory with both the electoral vote and the popular vote of the American people. That is not the definition of "far right" because "far right" denotes a minority position, not those who won the popular vote. She's so far in left field she can't even see this for what it is, a total renunciation of everything she believes in. She wants to live in the past, the world will leave her behind.

Thanks so much to everyone who responded so far. I know it's hard to judge tone online, but please know I'm sincere when I say I appreciate people's honest takes, including people who are mad I'd even be writing about the cultural angle in the first place. As I've been researching this piece, I've realized I actually DON'T want to write another Cybertruck takedown, because those already exist in spades. So, it's boring for me as a writer, and presumably for readers, too.

This is the rationale for looking for owner input: I'm genuinely curious about people's motivations in owning it, and not just looking for "gotcha" quotes (again, boring). It looks like a lot of people love the functionality of the truck, although I've yet to hear from someone who says, "Yes, I use it daily in my construction/ contracting/ etc. business to haul, transport, etc etc." Maybe that person is out there, and if so I'd love to hear from them! I did find at least one guy out there who says he's a contractor and is disappointed in the CT as a work vehicle:

One follow-up to the people who say they love the truck's functionality: what, if anything, makes you different as a Cybertruck/ Tesla enthusiast vs. say, a general EV enthusiast or, on the other end of the spectrum perhaps, a Lamborghini/ Maserati/ Ferrari (fancy racing-type car) enthusiast?

Another follow-up, for the people saying to "separate the art from the artist," so to speak: it does make a certain amount of sense to say, "if I subjected all my consumer choices to a purity test, I'd never be able to buy anything." But if that's true, and if it's "normal" to just ignore larger context/ CEO views when making consumer decisions, why are so many people, including here, so defensive about their Tesla or Cybertruck purchases?

There have been reports of people replacing or disguising their Tesla decals, plus all the photos online of "I bought this before Elon went crazy" stickers. Lots of "die journo scum" type comments here, which I assume come from being tired of seeing one's neutral-feeling consumer choices interpreted as support of "pure evil." But all that being the case, do we think people in other enthusiast communities, car-related or not, would be similarly mad at the types of questions I've been asking here, or is there something special about the CT, or our political moment, or whatever, that brings it out?

As for writing about a car when I'm not a "car guy": I think that's actually why my editors assigned me this piece—like it or not, the Cybertruck has become politicized, and as such it's fair game for anyone interested in American culture today. It's the same way that, to write about the COVID vaccine, I should ideally have a working knowledge of the medical side of things, but it's also so politicized that an article about how and why people think about it/ perceive it in certain ways could be interesting all on its own.

Anyway, thank you all, and thanks for reading this post (which ended up being longer than I intended). Looking forward to more of your comments!
Greetings, I've never posted before, as I visit EV forums mostly for intertainment, but this thread grabbed my attention. First, I LOVE my truck and would recommend it to anyone who can afford it. Second, many of the "I Bought This Before Elon Went Crazy" decals are simply a "please don't vandalize my property" plea. Lastly, I'm astonished at the amount of energy some people put into caring about how others choose to spend their money.

Anyway, I'm courious to see what you do with your take on a nothingburger
