Lots of mixed info...

Bottom line this was to be used for towing, and that is cleary not the case now...

what to do????

Gas trucks have much less range when towing too, only they can be refilled more quickly - but also much more expensively. You also have inferior performance with a gas truck whether towing or not.

The main Achilles heel of the Cybertruck is in fact, Long Distance Towing range. For purposes of discussion and noted in recent tests, traveling > 80-100 miles would be considered long distance.

Perhaps you need to evaluate all your situations and use cases to see how much long distance towing you would actually do on a regular basis. Personally if I only did long distance towing once every year or less often, then I'd be willing to deal with the short range in those trips.

Cybertruck will be less expensive to tow things regardless, and over time will give back significant savings in lower cost of ownership. There's also the better performance, tech and driving experience.

If you can afford to lose $1k now. No big deal. Unburden yourself of the dilemna.

You are correct I started mapping out where I generally travel too, and at most would be 2 stops for charging. Thanks for the info!!

I did the same thing, emailed on 12/8, and ordered on 12/22. Hoping to get in the middle of February.
I got the invite and ordered on 12/21. Id love to get a VIN mid February but they still have the 12/8-12/9 folks and the 12/15 folks to build for. Do you think ordering on 12/22 will delay your VIN or do they base it on when the invite was sent? Curious cause there were a number of people who took some time to evaluate before ordering.

I am not sure how it will affect me. Maybe I get lucky and I’ll be on the bottom of the list of 12/8.

Oh ok. Good luck. Hopefully it doesn’t slow the process down. Good thing is it’s not if anymore, just when.

If you need it for towing of significant weight and distance you should have passed on the $1000 deposit for the Foundation Series. If they came back around to you in another year or two and the range extender was actually available along with a skeletal V4 Supercharger network beginning to come together, then it might be worth considering go through with the purchase.
If you end up with a Cybertruck and you don't want it, I can probable find you a cash buyer to take it off your hands.

My Suburban 2500 gets about the same on a 36 gallon tank. I have an Airstream 23ft, but am comparing my 25ft Legend trailer loaded with another 5k. So numbers are comparable, and there is no way towing could electric compared to $ to gas if one was towing our similar weights.

Glad I left the Airstream on the mountain, and I gave up towing.

Question, my down payment I haven't submitted, I did financing and everything. I don't want to drop my cash I have making interest to sit around 3 months waiting. Does that make sense? What was your experience?
