does anyone know which wires exactly on the trailer light connector are the 12v positive and negative. if someone knows what colors each are please share that with us. I can use a tester and figure it out or search the service manual but posting that info here for everyone to see that might be needing this info would be helpful. thank you.
Maybe Tesla chose to use the standard wiring colors???? If not, the pin numbers and function are standard. Use Pins 6 and 7.
  • Pin 1: Typically Yellow (Left turn signal and brake light)
  • Pin 2: Typically Brown (Tail lights, clearance lights)
  • Pin 3: Typically Green (Right turn signal and brake light)
  • Pin 4: Typically Red (Stop/brake lights)
  • Pin 5: Typically Blue (Electric brakes or auxiliary power)
  • Pin 6: Typically Black (Battery or 12V power for trailer)
  • Pin 7: Typically White (Ground)

Thank you
SSonnentag
for the trailer lights connector pin out
I will verify and test this information here in the next few days and post my findings and method for taping into the wires. but most likely will be done with these splice connectors red for the CTs smaller than usual wires. but that will also need to be tested.

Okay heres what the bracket looks like mounted on the drivers side. It is reversable to fit on both left and right L tracks. This bracket is on point If you would like the Glow Whip mounted at a high point of the body and want to keep the bed as clean as posible by keeping the tonneau cover closed and sealed and tailgate closed. All the while without drilling cutting or modifying anything on your CT No screw holes, sticky tape, velcro or adhesive will be necessary

I’ve been going to ocotillo and glamis for many years and I thought this was ‘law’… not being hassled. It is a safety concern which shouldn’t be taken lightly.

also, I have been pondering a good way to attach a whip to my CT for this very reason, when to day comes that I take it out. I wonder if there is a nice L-track mount available somewhere..
I got you covered on that. if you want to make it easy, I will have a limited supply but can make sure you get one if you let me know now. and I will have it for you at the event I am putting together a complete easy to install kit with everything needed. you will be able to install and use it within minutes of buying it. please let me know and I will reserve one for you. the price will be $200 -$240 were working that out soon. no deposit necessary now I trust that only serious buyers will ask me to reserve one for them and honor their word.

I appreciate the offer and gesture but I will not be able to make this outing.

I hope all have fun.

Do you have them are they installed yet?
no, and no :(

I haven't actually bought them yet, but it my standing plan to get 18s and wrap them with those when the OEM tires are worn out. That will also be when I'm getting my full-size spare. I have been doing a ton of off-roading without a full-size spare, against my better judgement, in an attempt to use up the OEM tires before ditching the 20s for a set of 5 18s.

My current plan to is to get some method beadgrips I found on sale for <$200 each.

*buys a set of Armstrong desert dog MTs*

I need some pseudo-paddle tires xD
I suggest starting a new thread on tires unless you are going to glamis on presidents day weekend with your new tires. In this case we do want to hear about it here.

The colors are all wrong here (above) I have confirmed this on my CB also the labeling is incorrect and the colors don't match the numbers in the labels ? please don't follow the schematic put up by SSonnentag this may be a standard plug on some trucks but not on the CB or CT
take a look at the connector socket cover from my CB in the photo below
Pin #1 is correct and is yellow the only one with correct label and color but
Pin #2 is Ground or negative and it's not Black its white
Pin #3 is the stop break lights it is Blue not white
Pin #4 is the Stop right turn, and it is green
Pin #5 is positive power and not blue it is Black
Pin #6 is running lights not 12v positive and it's not red none are red it is Brown finally
Pin #7 center pin is for reverse lights it is not brown or white it is Purple and not ground.

You can tap into the pins #2 white wire for negative 12v. and pin #5 Black for positive 12v. Usually in automobiles when you have a Black and white wire black is positive and white is negative. So, we would need to connect the red wire from the glow whip to the black one on the conector socket and the black wire from the glow whip to the white wire on the connector socket.

you can also use one of these to connect your glow whip without splicing any wires. just use the conector straight into the socket provided you are not using it for trailer lights in which case you can get an adapter splitter that gives you two connectors one for the trailer lights one for the whip.
