Even if you had a trailer without backup lights, why would you care if it caused a "red trailer icon" to display?
You have a diagnostic tool built into the vehicle which screams "you have a problem" even though there isn't one. Imagine it's your tire pressure monitoring system that does that, why would you care ? Why would you care if your screen lights up red suggesting you pull over immediately ? Indeed so many questions...

I guess I don't see a triangle with a red exclamation point in it as "screaming" at me. It's just a message for me to with what I will.

Are you referring to the warning that you're going to hit something when you reverse with a trailer attached?

If so I agree this is anyone as hell. When "trailer mode" was first introduced the backup warning should be disabled when towing is engaged.

No, the truck reports an electrical issue with the trailer. I don't know if it only covers the lights or brakes too. It is a useful feature as any such trailer issues can be a significant safety risk, but if it doesn't work properly then it's like not having such feature altogether.

Why would you want to do that?
I want to do it so I can go to a parking lot, when it’s snowing and have a little fun.
But it is actually helpful when backing a trailers, it’s why pushback tugs have the steering in the “back” when pushing planes back. What they need is a way to disable front steering when backing with a trailer.

Gotcha. Check your grounds..I had an issue with my trailer first tow and this truck seems more sensitive to weak grounds. My model y towed this same small motorcycle trailer last time and it didn't find any issues. The CT made me find a slightly cut intermittent ground wire.

I have a brand new trailer. Everything works until you put the truck in reverse, then the trailer icon turns to Red. Then once you park and go to drive it again, trailer icon shows normal. The behavior is consistent and repeatable.

The wiring is fine, the trailer physically has no reverse lights installed.
The truck is reporting as if it does, but they are burned out/ disconnected.

My trailer doesn't have reverse lights either and I don't get that error.... Weird.

7 pin. I haven't used a 4 pin in a long time for anything.

Nope. I wired it myself. It only has signal wires and ground.

Folks above mentioned 4pin vs 7pin stuff. My trailer is actually 7 pin with electric brakes. There are indeed no backup lights on it. Relatively large trailer too - 3500lb dry (14k GVWR), 22ft long.
