Until further notice; I'll give the billionaire multidisciplinary genius a shot at keep on doing what's he's doing. Sponsored
He hasn't been doing anything good in the last few years IMO and he's certainly not been doing anything "genius". One thing he has been doing is being consistently wrong about autonomy, and I'm someone who tends to believe the evidence in front of my eyes.

^ you think this is an example of a promise made to the public?
As an isolated quote, removed from his other statements, no, but it doesn't exist in the pretended isolation you are trying to create. You of course left out the rest of the statement:

"We'll be able to do a demonstration guide of full autonomy all the way from LA to New York. So basically from home in LA to Times Square in New York. And then have the car go and park itself by the end of next year."

Frankly it's an irrelevant distraction whether it was a "promise" or just optimistic "speculation", either way the overwhelming evidence is he has no idea. I'd have no problem if he were off by a year or to, once or twice, but it's been never ending and only shows he had very little insight into what would be involved in achieving the goal.

oh, yeah! That's the case where the dude was playing a video game on his cell phone instead of driving the car.

I don't think you want to have an honest discussion here on this forum. You just want to foment FUD and discontent against Tesla. Glad we could suss that out.

I agree with your earlier statement. You should sell your Cybertruck and get something else.

Clearly - you're a true believer. Everything he does is good etc.
This is the 2nd time you have tried to assert this, so I am just going to assume that I will get nothing but straw-man arguments from your side. ?‍♂

It truly blows my mind that someone can look at the Chief Engineer of SpaceX, responsible for making this happen, and label him anything less than a brilliant mind. But, ok. We are all entitled to our incorrect opinions.

"We'll be able to do a demonstration [guide] of full autonomy
It's funny when the "quote" is misquoted because the auto-captioning software that was used for this "quote" mistook 'drive' for 'guide'. ?

Actually, if this is the case from SoCal it’s much worse than that. This Nimrod knew that his car was failing and almost drove into this barricade every single time that he was testing it. In fact, unless I’m mistaken this was prior to FSD beta this was just auto pilot on the highway. The case was almost like Memento where the lady refused to believe that her husband would murder her by repeatedly injecting her with her insulin and she FA’ed until she FO’ed in heaven.

This case made me mad back then and still does today, if it’s the same one. This was suicide by obstinace IMO. The product did exactly what it was capable of at the time, not much! The finding out part in this case was dead deadly! The fucking around was idiotic!!!!!

This is indeed the same case. The one where he knew for an absolute fact that autopilot struggled several times previously at this section of the highway, and yet he still f***ed off on his phone until he eventually found out.

Tesla read back the receipts in court.

Absolutely infuriating!!!! I got quibbles with a whole bunch of shit that I’m just staying out of but on this I’m sorry Tesla did nothing wrong and this guy, may he rest in peace, earned his Darwin.

The jury is out on how much he actually contributes vs gets in the way.
Agree. There is a very fair Edison comparison here that @REM is definitely not going to concede, but should.

amigo I settle things every day that I am confident I would win because sometimes you have to make a business decision about how much you’re spending on litigation versus settling. In almost all cases a strategy that focuses on quick resolution is just good business from an efficiency standpoint if nothing else.

I tell my clients all the time, principles can be very expensive. You have to pick your battles.

A settlement tells you nothing other than one or both of the parties realized that the dumbest thing that you can do is let a judge or a jury resolve a dispute for you. A negotiated settlement is always superior.

For all we know, they settled because the estate realized that they were fucked and took whatever initial tender Tesla made because, in many states, if they didn’t get at least that much they would have to pay all of Tesla‘s litigation costs which could exceed the settlement amount! I’m not a California lawyer so I’m not gonna speculate about what exactly happened but I can tell you from the outside we know nothing.

But concerning the publicly available facts that man was the villain in this case! Even if he only hurt himself.
