I was driving home from my vacation today in my wife’s car (a non-EV SUV) and was riding alongside a new Cybertruck, which I assume was on its way home (it had an NJ temp plate on it). As we live in NH, that’s where we have to pick up our Teslas.

Anyway, I saw the Cybertruck, and my wife noticed that there was another SUV right behind it, tailgating hard and flashing its high beams.

I immediately went into defense mode, got up behind the SUV, and high-beamed them until they stopped harassing the Cybertruck. I then got between the SUV and the Cybertruck and slowed down a bit to give the Cybertruck some room. The SUV honked at me, then sped by, flipping me off, haha. They then sped away, baffled that someone would stick up for a Cybertruck.

Little do they know, a fellow Cybertruck owner was watching from a distance.

These idiots need to get a life and let people like what they want without being harassed by immature people who can’t handle their emotions.

If by chance the new Cybertruck owner in NH from today is in this forum, PM me, and we should meet up along with some other Cybertruck owners in the NH area. There are a bunch of them in the area :)

Be careful out there. People are crazy and dont forget that you are operating multi-ton machine boxes at high speed.

also, why do you have to go to NJ to take delivery? You bypass at least 3 delivery centers in ma and RI to get down to NJ?

Agreed. i was pretty careful, just pointing out to them that what they were doing was not ok.

Per Grok on the NH/NJ thing.

As a New Hampshire resident, you’re likely required to pick up your Tesla in New Jersey due to state-specific regulations and Tesla’s delivery policies. New Hampshire doesn’t have a Tesla sales or delivery center, so Tesla routes deliveries to nearby states where they have facilities and can legally process out-of-state registrations without imposing local sales tax. New Jersey, specifically Paramus or Springfield, is often the designated pickup location for NH residents because NJ doesn’t charge sales tax on electric vehicles, aligning with NH’s no-sales-tax policy, making the transaction smoother.

I know Mass has some weird laws/restrictions when it comes to NH temp plates etc.

Great job sticking up for a fellow American getting harassed by hateful morons. Bravo ?

This is what real Americans do. They do not spread hate, instead they protect one another.

Well done. Appreciate your courage.
Glad you brought that up. I travel with kids a lot but I also just feel responsible for coming home safe to them and I often wonder if responding the way I want to respond to these assholes could get me in situations I really have no reason to be in.
I mean, have you watched any of those reality road rage shows? There is real potential to get hurt here. Over what?

I feel you on this one as well. Having a family does make me respond differently to most situations (when I'm in my CT I usually just look at the road and let people think and do what they want.) I figure it makes them more upset thinking that I didn't see their childish hand gestures anyway haha.

This situation made me upset because this person clearly JUST bought their truck and was on the way home from picking it up. Having this happen on day 1 is just dumb.

You are right to be cautious. You never know the other fellow's skill level, or what weapons he has. But, it's nice to see people take a stand. Hopefully this all blows over soon. It is unsettling.
On another note, I called out a troll a few minutes ago and the admin people pulled my comments and are allowing him to continue with a story that has no hope of being believable. Unfortunate.
Anyway, stay strong. Greatest truck I have ever owned.

Administration is very active and solid here. I didn’t see your comments, but I can tell you this the best way for you to get yourself banned is to spread whatever happened over there all over the forum because you’re bitter about it.

A word to the wise.

Thanks, I just picked up my CT in Paramus 2wks ago, and couldn't quite remember why I had to fly down from Maine, to Newark, and uber my way up to Paramus, then drive 400mi home. Was just glad it was doable with reasonably minimal fuss.

I did look online 6 months before, and read the odd rules for Mainers picking up in NJ but forgot!

Now that a new Tesla SC delivery center is open just south of Manchester, presumably we'll be able to pickup there.

It’s unquestionably an upsetting situation and I fully understand where you were coming from.
I love your point about being more upset when they are ignored. I’m going to focus on that as a retaliation tactic.
worked for Ghandi right?
