Mmmmm not so great on deer. Wiped one out in rural Tennessee. To be fair it popped straight out of the woods with one step in front of the car. A trim piece momentarily dislodged. Not a big deal.
Super curious about your experience with Deer.. I'm in Rural PA and deer are all over the streets.. I just got my CT (have models S and X with FSD but it's HW3) and wondering about how FSD hw4 deals with them.. Would be amazing to have a deer mode where it could see the reflection in their eyes on the sides of the street and slow down for them or issue a verbal alarm to the driver.

I just want some basic stuff like "Stay in the middle of the lane". You guys are talking about all these advanced features...we still need the basics. There is ZERO reason the Cybertruck should hug the left hand side of the lane in various situations.
I just drove from LA to Vegas and back and had to put pressure on the wheel to keep the truck centered in the lane. Looking forward to V14. I'm hearing you can no long use the wheel to adjust the speed? That would suck. It is absolutely needed for FSD

Live in rural Texas here. 2 issues with deer on our very dark streets where we have a TON of them every night:

1. It doesn't slow/react to deer currently, even when lit up and halfway in street. I have to take over quick.

2. Half the time on our streets FSD fails because it's too dark, and gives error message that one or more of the side cameras are obstructive, although it's just dark. Ridiculous on that front so makes FSD unusable when could really use it at times.

There is no way I would have missed it if I was driving myself. In fact, I would’ve definitely been going faster.

True, I had the '24 MX Plaid but her range of height adjustments is trivial compared to what we can do with our Cybertrucks, imho.

It's hard being patient for a delayed FSD 14 release, but at least we have a reason why Cybertruck is getting it later than other models.

That reason has persisted since the vehicle launched. We sat on our asses with no FSD AT ALL for almost a year. We still don’t have ASS and we weren’t even trusted with/gifted dumb summon (I know the reasons why, doesn’t change the reality).

I’m not placated by this excuse in the least. It’s a known known that the CT is different. The question is when we’re going to stop “suffering” because it is.

To be clear this is little more than a mild annoyance, at least in my case. I’ve got two other cars that will have v14 soon enough.

I believe he’s being funny but even if feigned, the obsequiousness is cringe and Elon’s response is wholly unsatisfactory.

It’s been long enough to catch up. Dojo was supposed to make the number of trucks on the road irrelevant. Now that’s been abandoned because it’s allegedly unnecessary for hardware (AI5) that we don’t have.

This is not how you treat a “flagship.” It isn’t now, and ever since launch it never really has been. I think Elon is unhappy about the way things turned out with his pet project and we’re the ones suffering from his ennui.

Dojo is irrelevant for HW6, they are using Nvidia (Cortex) for HW4/HW5 training.

FSD is obviously difficult...I watched some videos of V14 making some huge blunders yesterday...they would have been far worse with the CT. I get it, even if I am disappointed.

Perhaps I misunderstood. I thought they not only jettisoned the team, but also basically took it out of service/dismantled it. My point is they could still be using that for CT training if they hadn’t.

You’re right. There’s always a few steps back to make a few steps forward with FSD. I watched both Chuck Cook and Dirty Tesla’s videos. Both demonstrated some setbacks. I never really learn anything watching WMC, so I didn’t bother with his.

Dojo is still working, but it was never as big or heavily utilized as Cortex (Nvidia solution) after it came online. They fired/reassigned the team, but it's not completely decommissioned (or I can't find anything saying it is).

It's about Tesla's prioritization. CT and Semi (per Elon 2 days ago) are on the back burner for getting FSDU to the 3/Y. They are working on the CT in the background, but obviously not dedicating a ton to it.

Should’ve taken Steve Jobs’ lead and announced the CT as a side project like Apple TV was. “We’ve got an idea about the future of trucks and we’re gonna see if we can sell a few of them to our boldest customers. We think they’re gonna love it!”

This would’ve been a better way forward than the hype— to malaise— to redheaded stepchild progression we’ve experienced.

Same thing for the New Roadster. And in the case of that vehicle, it obviously is a niche product so it kind of has that vibe. It wasn’t marketed as a F150 replacement. That was clearly a mistake here.

Yeah, I think it’s just about setting expectations. Most companies start with their flagship and have everything trickle down from there. Tesla is definitely all about scaling and so you can sometimes find yourself siloed, like we are.

But, it’s not consistent and this imo is the bigger problem. Like I said, my model three performance was a true halo car when it came out it had the best of everything. It still has things that the CT doesn’t have. My Model S Plaid was similarly situated. So, personally, I was taught through prior experience if I bought their top of the line flagship that expenditure would be rewarded.

That hasn’t been the case with the FS/CB at all and it’s definitely frustrating.

Yes. I agree. Steve Jobs always had a preternatural understanding of social psychology and that was a prime example.
With respect to the Cybertruck release though @dalton108, I hereby crown thee queen of all dramas. Ruler of all you survey. I have my criticisms but “malaise” and “redheaded stepchildren”?
I still got a pretty damn cool car and time will tell but I predict it will eventually be VERY popular by the time this is all over.

LOL! You can always insert whatever lame ass milktoast words you like. You can’t really argue with the way things have progressed. “Hype — Stall — Lag” if you prefer, but that is precisely what has happened. Those are just different less vivid words for malaise and redheaded stepchild.

The CT has hit its peak popularity for now. If it ever gains any traction, it will be in hindsight like the DeLorean. After getting a good view of what was going on with sales and reception I said, fairly early on, it was going to be like the Edsel, and now it’s clear that it will be. It’s a fine car, far ahead of its time, it just isn’t going to get the respect that it deserves and it’s not going to ever make it to the main branch.

Nobody’s coming to save the CT. Those of us who love it have done all that we can do. Some going to absurd lengths of buying freaking three of them! A much larger contingent have purchased two! The choir is committed! No one else is.

There will forever be a group of people who are hostile to it and see it as a rolling joke and there will be those of us who know how incredible it always was/is.

Now, KNEEL before your “queen” (he/him though).

I have had FSD brake and slow down in the dark a couple times for deer that were right on the shoulder. None were in the lane right in front of the truck. I wished I had saved the footage.

I don't know if this was because there were more than one, or if one dashed across the road that I didn't see. In both case high beams were on auto and on. I don't know if FSD would have acted the same way with low beams only.
