What mounting hardware did you use for the flag mount? I'm adding a fly rod holder and need to mount it similar to what you did.

flag mount was tough, matching the pole diameter with the mount hole diameter
First flag pole too big diameter
Now too thin but made it bigger with metal tape wrapped around the pole end
If I had to do it again, I’d search longer for the perfect diameter match

We installed the same Flag pole mount as others here did... BUT, it's not really very sturdy... You will NOT want to have a large flag in it if you are going over about 35mph or it WILL bend/twist... We ended up just taking it out... Might be okay for a fly rod holder IF you want your rod sticking straight up all the time (I wouldn't)... I would consider making one like this guy did - it's mounted horizontally so it's more aerodynamic as well...

my flag pole is good and strong
Carbon fiber
But the pole diameter does not match the diameter of the holder hole
Back and forth on Amazon, could not match
I made the pole thicker, increasing its diameter with metal tape from the HVAC industry, home depot
Now it’s perfect
