discontinued, yes.

changed the entire path of transportation, for the world, check.

destined to become a collectors vehicle, for museums when the history books of electrification are written. it will sell for milliions within 10-20 years, just watch. Has happened with other classic, low production vehicles as well, nothing new.
This will never sell for millions. The original iPhone, never used, still in package, sells for a huge markup. But this is the equivalent of a iPhone 17. For a Tesla to worth the same type of markup. It would be the original Model S. It would have to have never been driven. The doors could never been opened or the car sat in.

time will tell, won't it? most of the orignal signature edition Model S's where heavily driven, and have been scraped by now with ultra high mileage. I had an orignal 2013 Model S, but it wasn't a signature edition, I recently traded it in for a 2025 Cybertruck. This is a much improved version of that orignal design, with many of the improvments Tesla has made over the years, they are only making 250 Model S's, and 100 Model X's (limited quantity). It will certainly be worth much more than the $160K asking price. There is an entire class of well off investors, who invest in stocks, precious metals, and older soon to become collectors items, that is who this is addressed to.

Nearly every car sold for >$1M for the past 20 years has been 'discontinued'.
Those were vehicles not driven by computer chips & software updates. You’re essentially buying a brick at some point, where service & software updates are no longer produced.

For those who do buy, enjoy your Fisker.

you know, opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one, and they all stink :)

There are still tens of thousands of Model S's on the road, Tesla will not be developing anything new for them, but they will continue to support them, until there all in the scrap yard. They have not announced end of support, only end of production.

I hope someone here buys a Model S Signature edition and sells their 2026 Model S with FSD, preferably Ultra Red, Frost Blue, or Stealth Gray with 19 inch wheels. Then we both get our dream cars!

Please check your Spam/Junk mail boxes. My invite was hidden in my Spam box 😂
Well, looks like my ship finally came in!

This also tells me that they’re not moving these as well as they thought they were going to. I read somewhere today that the allocations were all gone and the books were closed. Well as you can see I just got my invite 30 minutes ago!

I don’t have the will to blow $160k on this as a “investment” and it’s just not a color car that I want to own. Also, EV‘s just aren’t being treated like classic cars yet they’re being treated like pieces of tech that age poorly and kind of become obsolete. I sure do hope these cars get the respect that they deserve.

I’m pretty sure I would be trying to justify it if it was available in the “Signature Black” that was rumored, but not true. Another thing I think Tesla could’ve done to make these more tempting would have been a guaranteed upgrade to HW5/AI5.

Too bad, I’m not made of money like @hemiarch, or that rich sonovabear, @CyberGus; but I am thankful to have at least been given the opportunity!

Also, even at $160,000 it’s still $90,000 cheaper than the Lucid Air Sapphire!

Interesting, I wish there was a way to know how many have been reserved as I've been sitting on the fence trying to decide whether to order the Signature S. Was kind of worried if I wait too long, I'll blow my chance. I'm not crazy about the color either, nor would I want black (hot Arizona here). I guess the red could grow on me. I'm not getting any support for this idea from my financial advisor nor my partner. However, I always do what I want anyway, but it would be nice to have some encouragement instead of hearing "don't do it".

Yeah definitely black would not be my preference either and for the very same reason as you, NV desert environment not the best color for our hot/dusty summers! I like black cars though. My S Plaid is white and it’s the exact right color!

I’m not even remotely considering doing it nonetheless, I can totally understand your financial advisor waving you off and your partner not wanting to do it. But, 100% it’s your choice and I strongly support your attitude about that!

Even though I’m not considering it I have been “consulting” Gemini, Grok and ChatGPT just to see what kind of analysis they might offer. As a collector play it’s probably a losing bet. They all say that the original signature series even though they were produced in larger numbers (at least 1000 of each) basically have no retained no premium whatsoever 14 years later and they’re really treated like obsolete old tech not classic cars. They all expect the same here even with the scarcity. They don’t expect it to improve your odds very much if you were to mothball them for the next decade which is kind of hard with an electric car so you would at least have to mind the HVB.

FSD and lifetime supercharging are great but you’re paying an insane premium for something that you probably won’t want to drive as much if you have any hope of retaining any collectors value. It’s definitely a tough sell.

I offered my wife to upgrade her ‘24 MX and she she’s not a taker either. Doesn’t like the color, doesn’t want a car that she’s afraid to drive.

On the encouragement front, I think those who do take are going to get an opportunity to go to the grand sendoff and possibly the launch of the roadster. I also think they’ll be some other undisclosed perks. It’s a unique opportunity to engage with a visionary industrialist during his prime (warts aside), and even if it’s undervalued a really cool piece of history. Tesla has never put a gold badge on a car and may never do it again. And again, you’re getting a 200 mph rocket for at least $90,000 less than the closest competitor (Lucid Sapphire $249,000 for .01 seconds faster 0 to 60) and everything else that competes is in the seven figures.

You could justify the purchase on the strength of that alone! The exclusivity of having 1/250 or 1/100 of anything is a rare opportunity. You don’t need anybody’s permission to take advantage of it.

Yeah, it could grow on me too. 😳 Here is my car a couple of weeks ago after I got my track package installed and received my included Zero G tires back from being powder coated bronze.

Beautiful! The Model S really is a nice design, timeless IMO. If only we didn't live off a dirt road: the back end would look dusty just from driving home. My new 2026 Model X did, it's the frost blue, and I bet the red color would show the dust even more. Still thinking about it though.

1. YOLO
2. Die with zero (use your assets now when you can enjoy)

The decision you make will be the right one--either way. I feel buying more than basic transportation is mainly an emotional decision. For me, when it came time to buy the Cybertruck, it came down to me wanting a truck made by Tesla. My inherited ICE truck did everything I needed. But it wasn't a Tesla. I bet same with you: your current Tesla's are just fine. But, adding a final production run Model S/X would do something for you that's really only known to you. Good luck with your decision!

This! I'm almost 74 and in good health. No kids to leave $$ to. Yes, an emotional decision for sure. I don't need another Tesla. I just want this one.

I knew if I didn't, I'd regret it. So my Signature Model S order is in!
Congratulations!!! I can only hope to be as spry, independent and willing to go after things I want when I’m at your level of seasoning! Love to see it!!!

Did they give you a delivery time line in the order confirmation email?
No but they said May/June but who knows. If Tesla doesn't sell these fast like they probably think they will, then maybe it will get pushed back. I don't think they want this to drag out and on the TMC forum, a bunch of people were saying they got invites yesterday.
