Unfortunately there’s nothing “flat” about a dip no matter how meticulous the application—the orange peel look is just a deal breaker for most who like the true “flat” look of a PPF…

You seem to be very uninformed. You can get a flat, matte, glossy, satin, hypershift, or any look you desire with a dip. You have far more options to choose from/create than PPF. For instance this is my Cybertruck and I had asked him to mix in diamond sliver so it would have these flakes you’re complaining about. They sparkle/come out only in the sun and give the car a unique metal/metallic look in person that you can’t get with regular satin black wraps.

I know this because the first dip I got a few years ago from him was in this exact same satin black and it was smooth and “flat” perfectly looking like your PPF look and it looked stunning I was so happy with it as it had only cost $1,800 at the time and it looked better than any satin black vinyl/ppf wrap I could’ve ever asked for.

This time around I asked for the same satin black but to add in the diamond sliver that gave it the look you’re complaining about.

You shouldn’t be stating false facts to people like saying all dips have flakes/orange peel or whatever you’re calling it and using words like “for most” to somehow support what you’re saying is true. My previous dip had none, it’s a choice you can make in the customizability of the dip/look and effects you desire.

you misunderstand…

With the Dip, you are a slave to the underlying substrate.

So any imperfections will show up in the dip (as can be clearly seen in the plastic molded pieces).

with an ~11mil ppf the imperfections are minimized.

Not to mention the protection that the PPF offers above and beyond the dip.

all for about the same price.

advantage PPF.

Uh what you talking about bro? What do you mean can be clearly seen? There are no imperfections/texture from the plastic showing up in the dip. I’m sorry I didn’t realize this was your car that you’re looking at in person. Now you just plain making stuff up, it’s the exact same as the rest of the car I promise you. It’s actually the opposite dude, any texture from a texturized plastic would theoretically show through a wrap or PPF, not the dip which has 10 layers to it. I literally included a close up picture of the plastics on purpose to show that it’s exactly the same as the rest of the car, but I guess you’re claiming on seeing something nobody can see and that I guarantee isn’t there.

You also fail to mention or comprehend that you would have to sand the plastic or prime it if you even wanted to attempt a vinyl or PPF wrap the plastics, so definitely no advantage to PPF as again you have no idea what you’re talking about saying that with 11mil the PPF wouldn’t show imperfections considering that PPF doesn’t stick to plastics so that 11mil doesn’t matter and it wouldn’t even be possible anyways, you would have to pay to sand or prime it to get the PPF to stick. And even then you wouldn’t be able to get the color/wrap hard to reach places like the grill whereas with dips you can.

You also didn’t say any of that in your comment, you suddenly go from talking about the car to just the plastics now even though you’re wrong about both. With the dip I didn’t even have to sand or prime to plastics to get a smooth finish with no imperfections or texture from the plastic coming through. And regardless the Cybertruck plastic is very smooth with no texture unlike most car plastics that you can feel texture with your finger.

I gotta be honest you have been coming across as a hater/some salty dude who must’ve paid too much for a PPF. You also really shouldn’t be talking about dips to people as if you know anything about them or the protection they can offer.

It’s also nowhere near the same price as you keep saying for some reason. We already agreed the PPF with the plastics would be at least 5k whereas the dip with plastics was only 3k-3,200 and it looks identical to the best PPF and vinyl out there in any finish/color/style combo you can imagine.

Sorry but you are spreading misinformation.

A) the dip layers are in fact thinner than 11mil ppf
B) ppf provides much more protection.
C) the plastics on the CyberTruck DO have a texture (you are clearly lying when you write that they are “smooth”, any CyberTruck owner can now see you are lying)
D) The cost of a dip depends on the number of layers. If you want to get it perfectly like glass (like the black gloss PPF I showed earlier) you’re going to need more layers and that’s more money. Anyone with any experience with dips would tell you that but clearly you like to make up stories.
E) Even if we assume your $3200 for the dip were correct, you could get all the advantages of a PPF for only ~$1,800 more, which is a no brainer given the fact that you spent $100k+ on the vehicle.

I never said dips provided more protection than PPFs. And you must be a troll who doesn’t own a Cybertruck if you’re really saying the plastics aren’t smooth relative to other car plastics on other cars, because they are.

You crazy dude you really out here raging and just making up stuff now and calling me a liar about the price. There’s pros and cons to both but you just out here hating lol I feel bad for you that you’ve resorted to making up stuff since I called you out for clearly knowing absolutely nothing about dips and spreading misinformation to people. No matter the dip it’s always around 10 layers unlike you just stated. You clearly know nothing bro and anyone who knows anything about dips can see that.

Give up dude you’re embarrassing yourself.

Given you failed to counter a single of my points it’s clear you’re the troll…

What did I not address? You just failed to counter a single of my points so it’s you who are the troll seeing as I’m the one with the actual car who did all this stuff. You’re the one with no leg to stand on who is clearly an angry liar. Stop embarrassing yourself bro it’s clear you’re such a hater. You make be fun at parties

Took 18 cans to do my bedroom windows, next time I’ll just use aluminum foil or just real tint lol. The windows get hot ASF too. After the first year it shrinks too. I’d rather wrap the truck. But that’s just me. Best of luck to ya.

You plastidipped your bedroom windows? I’m asking about plastic on the stainless body and how well it holds up.

lol I did, figured I could just peal it off when ever I wanted. But after the first 3 cans I knew I was in trouble as it’s not thick enough to block direct sunlight on the other side. I like to take naps during lunch. But same principle applys to stainless, not blocking sun but you will have the same shrinkage and if your doing it with a spray can you better be a graffiti artist. I’ll get a pic in the daylight for ya in about 9 hours.
