Have parked our Model X and Cybertruck for 4-5 nights at the airport. There are often not enough chargers so we just charge up to 80-90% right before we leave so we can leave Sentry Mode on while there. You should count on a solid 5% per 24 hours for just Sentry usage. If you are parked outside with cabin overheat protection on it is impossible to say how much you will use in 24 hours but it will be way more than 5%.

5 days is nothing if you just park it like an ICE vehicle (no Cabin Overheat Protection and no Sentry Mode). You will hardly lose anything if you let it go to sleep and don't keep polling it with your phone app.

Thx. I figured there’d be a fair bit of drain. Good point about the overheat protection.
We’re also concerned about security. Perhaps unfounded because of Sentry mode, etc. But we’ve never had a problem before any other time. However, we had a Volvo XC90 prior to this, and we were hesitant about it as well (didn’t want door dings and stuff either). So also would just drive the old Caravan.
Do you leave the tonneau cover open or closed?
I guess it wouldn’t hurt if we just left it there. Just leaving it in their parking lot while 3,000 miles away would be a new experience. Feels a little vulnerable for some reason. Our trip is 7 days too.
kind of feels like dropping a kid off at school for the first time. ?

I have parked my Y twice at the airport for a week. I was getting a ton of sentry events which were consuming more batter than I was comfortable with and I ended up turning it off. Drain was essentially non-existent after that.

We did the same thing last month with our MY. The amount of drain got concerning so I turned off Sentry mode and Cabin protection....car slept like a baby with minimum drain. Only issue is the 12V battery started to die. Nothing was plugged in and nothing left on. Likely unrelated to being gone and it was just time for it to die, but we didn't get any warnings on the app while we were gone or in the car once we returned. It just got really hard to wake up while we were away and then a day after we returned it would only wake up after trying continously at the car if not plugged in (I was travelling again, my wife was freaking out, the interior functions were limited and many other warnings were present). Luckily we got it going and to a SC. All is good now.

If you are going to ATL, there's Peachy Parking just north of the airport. They have inside parking with 120V 20A plugs available for their "EV" parking. There's a LOT of spots, but they do take reservations.

In that case, you leave better than you arrived.

My M3 lives at the airport. Has been in long term parking lot more then at my house.
I leave everything off. No sentry no over heat and don’t check the app. I have left it there for 2+ weeks straight. I leave my house with the standard 80% charge get to the airport about 65% come back 2+weeks later just about 55% and drive home. Plug it in for a few days while at home then repeat.
What I learned was sentry mode kills the power. There is no reason to have it on. In the early days of owning the 3 I have come back to over 500 events and the USB drive full so it didn’t even record everything anyways.
some airport have the charge point charger that are free if you can find an open one. If not just park it and forget it.

Yep, Atlanta. We’ve always parked in economy while gone. But will check on this. Thanks.

You should be fine! But be careful with the CT. Because it's new there's lots of bugs that are mostly fixed. At one point, I was draining 5% or more a day with sentry mode and cabin overheat off. Now it's more normal at 2-3%

However with the Model X and Y its literally 1 or less than 1% a day as long as those features are off!

Don't leave sentry mode on if your car isn't plugged in at the airport. I have a video on it but I ended up consuming over 100% from sentry mode events being plugged in for little over a week.

Thanks Chris. I haven’t seen the video but will check it out.

I leave my Model Y at the airport all the time. No sentry. Hardly loses anything. I wonder how long it could sit until the battery was 0? The longest I left was maybe 2.5 weeks and it had tons left. Seems like it would last at least a few months maybe?

As far as leaving the Cybertruck, I personally wouldn't do it. Not until they become common. Too much interest still and also haters.
