I don't think Tesla is the type to waste space for something 5-7 years out. For even 3 years out they have plenty of time to redesign battery pack to fit same mounting. They must already have a near-term ( 6 months - 12 months) plan for an option that woulsd need some of the extra space...

5-10 years is too far out. My guess is some structural LFP cells within 1-2 years. Tesla suppliers BYD & CATL already have structural LFP cells in production (not lab, no prototype, not pilot) and in some vehicle models.
