Yup, in the near future there may be several sources of taller 46xxx cells. --------------------------------- BMW Gen6 Battery System September 12, 2022 batterydesign.net - Battery Design from chemistry to pack By Nigel Taylor Engineering and physics background with >30 years in the automotive...
  4. Extra Towing Range vs Extreme off-road ground clearance

Yes, agree handling would be impacted. My safety comment and handling are not only potential issues. I made a note at top of my original post where I listed some of the potential side affect issues with Tesla's ranger extender in the bed, most of those issues could also be relevant to battery in...
  5. Extra Towing Range vs Extreme off-road ground clearance

Safety might be a big concern with battery in that under bed storage compartment. The compartment is past the rear wheels and in the rear-end crash crumple zone.
  6. Extra Towing Range vs Extreme off-road ground clearance

NOTE: Option 2 means using Cybertruck Ranger Extender which takes up significant space in the bed and since it is separate from main traction battery the Ranger Extender will probably have other electrical/battery limitations (slower charging speed?, waste of another buffer, poorer cooling...
  7. Battery Pack Teardown Photos Reveals Empty Spaces (Sandy Munro Live)

If they used 4695 there probably would still leave plenty of room for emergency cell gas exhaust. 46120s ? Not sure if room for emergency cell gas exhaust if used 46120s but maybe there is enough, not sure. ------------------------ BatteryLine: Battery Industry: 4680 / 4695 / 46120 / 46xxx...

  10. Video: Cybertruck Battery Pack Teardown by Sandy Munro Live

I don't think Tesla is the type to waste space for something 5-7 years out. For even 3 years out they have plenty of time to redesign battery pack to fit same mounting. They must already have a near-term ( 6 months - 12 months) plan for an option that woulsd need some of the extra space...

  12. Cybertruck V2 Range 500-640 Confirmed Possible - Battery Compartment Space

5-10 years is too far out. My guess is some structural LFP cells within 1-2 years. Tesla suppliers BYD & CATL already have structural LFP cells in production (not lab, no prototype, not pilot) and in some vehicle models.
  13. Cybertruck V2 Range 500-640 Confirmed Possible - Battery Compartment Space

Room for different type of cell (not 4680)? Maybe shorter range (270 mi) & less expensive version Cybertruck using lower volume dense LFP cells from BYD or CATL
  14. First (Private) Imported Cybertruck in Europe (Germany)

------------ Apr 8, 2024 ----- google translated to English ---- Today was a busy but unforgettable day! Yesterday the Cybertruck was still in California. Today in Germany. The first import in Europe. Absolutely sick. I had goosebumps a lot today. Time was limited as the CT is now going...
  15. Chevy Silverado EV RST functionality (tailgate, rear window, midgate, range, HUD) blows away Cybertruck

Might not be such a small issue if found liable in accident and your insurance or other guys insurance makes issue of it. They easily could claim you would have been able to stop sooner or not lost control if you had not been overweight. certain states require all RVs over 10,000 pounds to...
