I don't off-road so I don't need a heavy duty option. Just something in case of emergency. I bought this one and it seems to work well enough. It's also really compact and fits easily in the sub-vault along a can of pump-through slime.

Not exactly automatic, but there is a camera button on the steering wheel. If you're in drive when you press it, the forward facing camera is displayed. I find it pretty handy after getting used to it.

Inspired by this, I took the USB-A drive out of my Model S and plugged it into the CT's glove drawer port. Lo and behold, it works! So now I just have to get an SSD and do some formatting.

No it doesn't show up there either. I did a little research over on TMC and a thread there suggested it might show up with a reboot of the screen while the drive was plugged in. So I tried that and still no worky.
