This doesn't say that anything is being upgraded, just the drivers for another camera added, maybe.
Is it needed for FSD? 99% probability of no.
Is it because it may be cheaper? High probability.
Will they replace existing cameras? At this point 110% probability of no.
Much ado about nothing
Staying on FSD for long trips has been a piece of cake for years. That's not much more than adaptive cruise control with lane guidance.
It's when you get off the big roads that it shines.
I'm currently on a 600 mile trip and will probably be over 90% FSD. But I am driving a HW3 car with V12
How many of you had the child locks turned on in your other cars?
You do realize that this keeps the door from being opened from the inside don't you?
And that's the funny thing about all of this, in other cars, the problem is even worse, kids can't open the doors from the inside, period.
Can you not get the hint? They are not working on one-off issues at this time. If they are looking at the report, I can assure you that they have giant bins accumulating issues for specific disengagement reasons. Definitely not listening to your specific issues.
But more importantly, they are...
You really aren't telling the whole story. To have that much Regen, you had a lot of elevation drop. In only about 20 miles, I suspect that your range showed much better as the orange peak rolled off.
You had a 75 mile downhill. You can't get that much green on flat land.
I haven't had to drive in what seems like months now .
And FSD isn't supposed to know the difference between a visitor and residents lane. And even if it did, it would have to know if it was a resident or visitor to pick the right one.
Nope, it's not going to be any good. Not going to make a difference to what Tesla will do to replace your battery.
And it does degrade your battery beyond normal. It takes at least an entire cycle out of the limited number of cycles that the battery has.
It is an absolute given that in the...
Try this. Go find a parking lot covered with snow and some room to play in. Get in one corner and floor it. You may be surprised at what happens. 0-60 in 4s?, ROTFLAMO.
Maybe the better idea, when cars are off the side of the road is to not be on the road in the first place.
You really didn't give any evidence why FSD would have made the trip worse, to the contrary, it may have kept you more rested.
Interesting that you could feel the additional wind resistance of about a sqft of extra material. (The wheels have a lot of metal as well)
But the really interesting one, as others have pointed out, is that the "drag" created by the wheel covers is actually negative, they smooth the airflow...
