This was always going to be in the price range of the Lighting and Rivian. That's where it came in.
Similar cars, with similar specs for a similar price.
Yes. It was strange all around. I mean after all the hype they couldn't even get the lighting right. This was about as poorly done an event, for something this big, than I possibly could have imagined.
To top it off - with a 60% price increase.
I like Elon, I really do - but this whole...
I was honesty expecting $70+ extras...
$80+ extras probably has me out. Just too many other electric options on the market to roll the dice on this car that may have close to no resale value in two years.
The truth is - and we all should have seen it - the base dual motor is coming in in the same price range of the F-150 Lightning for a similar product.
I almost bought the f-150 but wasn't interested in paying $85k for a pick up.
I have a very early order. Been a Tesla owner (on my 2nd Model S)
But at this price point - I think I'm out and going to go with the Porsche Taycan.
I can get a 2023 pre-owned with 2,000 miles (fully loaded) for the same price as the base dual motor.
Based on these specs....should be fine getting in my garage.
Was starting to get worried.
I have an S now and have a couple of feet to give on length...although getting through the garage doors on the width is kinda tight (I have to collapse the mirrors) but the widths look pretty similar. I...
Dual Motor: 300 mile range, 0-60 4.5 sec., base price $70,000 (probably $80 to get some basic features)
Tri-Motor - 400 range, 0-60 3.5 sec. base price $90,0000
Yes, anything else is pointless information. He's talking about what he wants to get to - and keeps pointing to 2025.
How many a month to start - and at what pace will it grow. Not how many he plans on delivering in 2025.
Obviously he's doing this on purpose to show big numbers.
My guess...
This seems about where I expected to see it.
Tri-Motor will start in $100k range
Dual-Motor will start in the $75k range
They'll never get to the single motor...
Going to make it a tough purchase for a car that is likely to have all kinds of problems. They may get through that 2mm order list...
This is definitely possible this is what he meant. Basically saying - we need to keep it affordable, but while we're not at scale we're going to lose money on it.
Surely hope that's the case rather than having to charge more for it.
Not good:
1. Sounds like it's going to be more expensive than we had anticipated (and I was expecting far more than the original price's noted)
2. Ramp is going to be very slow. 125,000 is about 10k a month. But getting to that 10k a month is highly unlikely to happen in 2024...
Isn't that the same width as a Model S? When I look it up it says 78.5 for the Model S
Is that possible?
I have a model S and it's tight in my garage (there's room but it's tight) was really hoping to fit the Cybertruck in there. Wasn't really counting on it though.
This gives me a hope..
This is all well and good but it's going on 5 years. I get delays happen - but at some point you do actually have to deliver the car.
People are here because they love this car and are excited to get one - but just because you're totally satisfied to continue to wait. you'll have to forgive...
Not a fan of the hub caps...
But the smaller tires just look strange on this car. I really hope this just isn't another play to upsell you to what should be the standard tire.
