Rivian R1T Refresh (Gen 2) Dethrones CyberBeast? 0-60 in 2.5s

Conked out means FSD ceased to function and I had to go to manual mode. When that happens, RB kicks in and you need to jump on the accelerator to keep from getting rear ended or honked. Both time were at about the 45 minute mark. I keep my hands lightly on the bottom of the steering wheel and...

Rivian R1T Refresh (Gen 2) Dethrones CyberBeast? 0-60 in 2.5s

i have FSD on my 2024 X. Not impressed. I have used it around town dozens of times and it has only completed one trip without messing up. Before I took delivery of the X, I was REQUIRED to endure a FSD demo. I did two - one in a Y and one in a S. Neither completed the task correctly. FSD is...

Rivian R1T Refresh (Gen 2) Dethrones CyberBeast? 0-60 in 2.5s

My reservation says Tesla will let me have a Quad CT in February 2025. Maybe this latest R1T model will be the hot poker that gets me my Quad sooner? And it will have the 500 miles of range Elon promised in 2019? Ah, I should fall asleep before I dream .... I have found my plain 2024 X has all...

Use Sprayway Glass Cleaner for cleaning fingerprints off Cybertruck stainless steel

With prime, shipping is free. $15 for 16 oz. sprayer. I have a Clear Bra full wrap and the Adams was what was recommended. Note the Adams is a detail spray and can be used to wash a moderate dirty car without a hose. It doesn't just clean, it also adds a protective layer (wax).

Use Sprayway Glass Cleaner for cleaning fingerprints off Cybertruck stainless steel

I use Adams Detail Spray. Available on Amazon and at WalMart (!!!). Adams also sells MF towels. Just spray on and follow with towel. Buff until clean. Works with mild dirt, but you need to hand wash if you got mud, etc. I spent $4K to total Clear Bra my X. Now I do not need to worry about bird...

PVC edge protector as protection against skin slice / cut from sharp stainless steel (i.e. wrist cut injury)

While waiting for my Quad motor 500 mile range CT (I, know, don't hold my breath), I got an X. I immediately noticed the front door edges were sharp enough to damage adjacent vehicles if I were careless. So, I bought the Auto Zone edge guards. The black matched my paint and they could be trimmed...

    Tire rotation @6k miles seriously!??

I have been driving for 60 years. I always thought tires should be rotated every 5,000 miles. I can count by 5's easily: 5, 10, 15 ... Count by 6.25? Not so easy. You rotate tires to ensure even wear so, when the tread gets down to the bars, you can get a full set of tires. You need all tires to...

Took our Cybertruck to car wash (photos) + update on ProtectaClear. No fingerprints for weeks now

My wrap guy recommend a shield base with the wrap over. The base should be over the entire vehicle. The base is not vinyl, but a much more durable material, depending on the product. Wraps are vinyl and only last 3 to 5 years. So, I did a 3M Pro Series "paint wrap" on the whole body with a 3M...

Metal Key Cards coming for Cybertruck

On my X, I keep a key card in my wallet, a fob in my pants pocket and the app on my phone. When my hands are full, the phone opens the door, otherwise I use the fob. Just feels more secure. Old fashioned, I guess.

Rivian shouldn't even be in the picture. Cybertruck or Lightning are the only contenders

So, my current K2500 has 325 miles of range with no significant load. The 4WT has 450 with no loads. If Tesla can get the CT up to 350 or better with out range extender, end of range argument. Most current EV's have more range than my K2500. Not sure why there is so much range anxiety?

Rivian shouldn't even be in the picture. Cybertruck or Lightning are the only contenders

The main problem with the 4WT is Chevy is not serious about making them. 500 a month is ridiculous. Even fleets cannot get them. My local Chevy dealer has had 20 on order since May. He expects 2 to show up in mid February.

Rivian shouldn't even be in the picture. Cybertruck or Lightning are the only contenders

I think the only real competition for CT is Chevy's 4WT. The Rivian is Tacoma-sized. The Lightning has very bad range. CT also has bad range, currently, but I am sure Tesla will shortly transition to the new batteries and fix that. So, it basically comes down to: do you want something that looks...

Towing tested with 6,000lb Tesla and trailer load

You and my brother. I think he wants to dump his Viper for a "green" Plaid. Me, I wouldn't know what to do with all that power. I just royally blew a Porsche off who tried to pass me on the freeway on ramp. I think he was shocked. I could hear his engine making lots of noise behind me while I...

Towing tested with 6,000lb Tesla and trailer load

Ah, no. Too old to chase babes. They all would be younger than my Daughter and that is just wrong! Besides, I got the 5 seat (2 row) version because I have two GSD, one 81 lbs and 26 inches. He needs that extra room behind the seat and "dog mode". He does not take kindly to strangers, even babes.

    Cybertruck deliveries in Irvine!

Well, here in Reno, they finally got their floor model Foundation two weeks ago. Last Friday, they delivered 4 on one day. Just parked them in the regular delivery slots like it was nothing special.

Towing tested with 6,000lb Tesla and trailer load

Someone else posted the real numbers. With an 8 month backlog, you would think GM would be really cranking them out. So many snub their noses at EV's. My own brother is one. I did NOT get the X because it was "green". I got it because it had comfortable seats, very quiet and smooth ride. lots of...

Towing tested with 6,000lb Tesla and trailer load

The Service Center Manager agreed it was probably a software issue cleared by the reset. Regen braking works great, now. I DID navigate to the charger. Thanks for pointing out that will pre-condition the battery. If I don't navigate, I will make sure to manually pre-condition.

Towing tested with 6,000lb Tesla and trailer load

Wow! I did not know the CT charged differently than the other Teslas. Thanks for the heads up.

Towing tested with 6,000lb Tesla and trailer load

I have ordered an X while I wait for my CT number to come up in another year or so. My service center let me borrow an X. One of the conditions was that I charge it. So, last night I took it to the Super Charger at RanchHarrah here in Reno, Nevada. Big! 24 bays! 18 0f them occupied when I got...
