    EV-specific trailers incoming!

It’s incredible the lengths to which some people will argue a falsehood. Intercepting a fax takes little effort and a $10 recorder. Intercepting an email is exceedingly difficult if not impossible, with expensive equipment. In addition to that, my original commentary on the topic made no...

It's not. Most email is encrypted in flight. Speaking of reading comprehension...

    EV-specific trailers incoming!

This is my industry. I run a VoIP company and do voice systems engineering. I've worked in telecom since the 90s. That statement is a common myth, but a myth for sure. I've shown a fax MITM in the 90s using a radio shack tape recorder. It's trivial. Most email is secure in transit. I...

I've never tried creep on the Tesla, but have driven a Bolt with it on. I guess I should try it. What a balancing act to make a car do something it doesn't natively want to do. I very much hate all of the fake human interfaces and skeuomorphic that are used to make something modern seem...

    EV-specific trailers incoming!

They engage the friction brakes, we know that for sure, it's documented. They're not going to waste a bunch of power holding a motor; just not the Tesla way. Electric motors produce very little power at very low speeds, and therefore, present very little restriction to movement. Sorry, I used...

    EV-specific trailers incoming!

Friction brakes are applied from around 5 MPH (my estimate not truly documented that I can find). Electric motors have very little friction at low speeds. "Holding" a motor consumes power. For example, I've measured the anti-theft e-brake on one of my electric bikes at over 700 watts. Without...

Regenerative braking is braking. If you hold neutral throttle or even very slight deceleration, no brake light. Move your foot off, and the lights come on. It has to be this way for the ICErs around you. They don't expect regeneration. Same reason they teach motorcyclists to flash a brake...

Are you using a Residential-rated receptacle Then an EV Industrial Rated receptacle to charge?

It does, and sets itself to 80% max power. You can further reduce it. But it's easy to fool it if you use adapters, which I once saw and quickly told her to stop it. It was a Tesla 14-50 dongle connected to a generic adapter for a 30A outlet. That was all kinds of bad news.

You shouldn't back off the throttle in ICE either. You should stay at neutral throttle and apply trailer brake only. Shit...where's the trailer brake on a Tesla? In a screen? That would make it pretty useless. BUT...I know my Jeep had auto trailer sway control that applied braking...

    EV-specific trailers incoming!

That was one of my questions, and I think the answer is yes. If you installed an aftermarket brake controller on a Tesla, then yes for sure. Is the Tesla controller smarter? Dunno. An aftermarket controller is activated when it senses a brake light, and sets the voltage to the trailer...

I don't think you understood what I was saying. Software *could* delay the voltage to the trailer brakes. By doing that, the car's own regeneration can capture the energy. If it applies brakes on the trailer it wastes that energy. It could be reserved for more active braking with the pedal...

Are you using a Residential-rated receptacle Then an EV Industrial Rated receptacle to charge?

A friend has his car set to charge after 11, which is good for many other reasons too. They are in bed by 9. Nobody is drying clothes while the car charges. Simple.

Are you using a Residential-rated receptacle Then an EV Industrial Rated receptacle to charge?

I used an IR heat reading gun to check mine after I installed it. Basically no heat over ambient (negligible) in about an hour. It's only a 30a outlet though.

Does anyone know if a Tesla with a brake controller will start to apply the normal trailer brakes as soon as the brake lights come on? I think it might. Which wastes a lot of power. Wonder if it could more intelligently delay braking until you actually press the car's brake pedal?

I have a ton of early Cybertruck reservations and want to partner up for a business

No. And also, the right to resell a product is well established in case law. But as others have said, the vendor can refuse to sell you more.

Oh, never considered that Plugshare would have crowdsourced recommendations. Yelp for charging.

My first thought, or mostly, "illegal trucking." I sold an RV bed to one of them, and then a box of other RV stuff to another. One openly admitted to running overweight loads for a day without rest on "the Benz" or something that sounded like that, I really really didn't want to be part of the...

The bike, right? Do you ever get hassled? Or even noticed that you can tell? Do you park on sidewalks or just in proper spaces and stretch a cord? Very curious how this plays out in real life. Arizona is pretty friendly to motorcycles on sidewalks because of our heat problem. I don't know...

Yesterday: Can you refuel your EV from a gas can? Sort of, with a generator, yes. Can you refuel your gas car from a random outlet like you can find anywhere? Such as...right over there (point to landscape lighting outlet by parking space).
