I put mine in the same spot. I've had it for 6 months now and only ONCE did I get both sides to lock in place. Usually I just have to slot it into one side and hope cargo sliding around doesn't knock it loose. If anyone has any tips on getting it to fit, I'm all ears too.

I get it all the time but it's from sunlight, not dirt. It goes away, at least for me, when I'm no longer in sunlight or bright lights.

I had the same with a magnet on my truck. Which is disappointing because of all the possibilities. But oh well. I wonder if we could place something in between the magnet and steel which would allow it to stick but not allow the corrosion.
