    Tesla Boats/Watercraft?

It seems that the solution here is to reduce drag by developing electric hydrofoils rather than traditional hulls. There are a couple of companies making multi passenger electric hydrofoils but at a price above $200k as you mentioned. However, Quadrofoil makes cool two seater hydrofoils that...

Tonneau with a side of wings?

That’s a good point; it may not be that useful if you park in a lot much of the time. Even street parking, probably couldn’t be deployed.

Tonneau with a side of wings?

Aside from the load of patent info dumped recently where solar for the tonneau was detailed, Elon has also mentioned some accessory solar ā€œwingsā€ that could be added for a total of 30-40 miles of range per day. Most likely would these wings fold out from the sail pillars? Would you give up...

ā˜€ļø New Cybertruck tonneau patent mentions potential use as Solar Panel

Sorry, I meant if you were concerned about how much phantom drain you were experiencing because you wanted to waste less energy. Not from the entire fleet but from the X. And comparing it to the X was my premise for the reasons I laid out in my earlier post. I would debate with you further...

ā˜€ļø New Cybertruck tonneau patent mentions potential use as Solar Panel

I don’t think your data shows what you think it does. I think it shows you’re only doing better than 23% of users and you need to make some adjustments in your settings so you can get back down where most of us are at around 0.2 mph phantom drain. It also shows your estimate of 9 miles per day...

ā˜€ļø New Cybertruck tonneau patent mentions potential use as Solar Panel

Sorry, no, I am not an engineer…far from it. I do recognize those terms although statistics is not my strong suit. I can see from the graph you provided, however, that most users across the fleet experience a phantom drain rate of what looks to be about an average of 0.17 mph loss. So in 24...

ā˜€ļø New Cybertruck tonneau patent mentions potential use as Solar Panel

ajdelange, If you have some actual research or published numbers you can refer to please do so as that would be helpful. Referring to your personal app settings or what you suppose 3/4 of people do is not. I use TeslaFi too and I don't suffer phantom drain like that. Guessing that the battery...

ā˜€ļø New Cybertruck tonneau patent mentions potential use as Solar Panel

There is a lot of speculation on here about how useful the solar option will be based on what the efficiency of the Cybertruck is going to be, but we already have enough data to estimate it pretty well: The CARB filing in Dec 2019 stated the Cybertruck would be class 2b - GVWR 8501-10000 lbs...

Sounded a little ad hominem to me, but then what do I know, right? I misunderstand everything and just can’t grasp concepts.

    Making Cybertruck cheaper

They’ve reduced the cost and added features to the Model 3 over the last two years. Manufacturing costs come down with scale…Tesla is improving their battery tech and at the same time making them cheaper.

Psycho for Cybertruck (Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs)

When the truck drove on stage and cleared enough from the smoke that I could see the shape, I exclaimed ā€œwhatā€ in shock and surprise. But when he started to talk about the shape being for strength and the stressed skin design I starting thinking ā€œthat makes sense.ā€ I threw off the shackles of...

ā˜€ļø New Cybertruck tonneau patent mentions potential use as Solar Panel

Tesla needs an additional ā€˜solar panel’ mode; the truck is parked, the tonneau is facing the right direction, you aren’t going to be using it (the interior) so just recharge the battery from the panels and supply power to the outlets…otherwise only minimal vehicle processes running.

Real range on Lightning better than CT dual motor!?

Real range on Lightning extended version 459 miles!? (At about the 8:40 mark)

ā˜€ļø New Cybertruck tonneau patent mentions potential use as Solar Panel

Hmm…so if it’s a $4500 option you recover the cost after 10 years…if it’s a $2000 option maybe by 5? I wonder what the price of this will be. If it’s too expensive then I guess you would have to judge its value by its convenience rather than cost savings.

ā˜€ļø New Cybertruck tonneau patent mentions potential use as Solar Panel

It depends on the option price I suppose, but (if my calculations are right) assuming the wh/mi of the Cybertruck is say 400 and the solar panel can provide 15 miles per day, that's 6000 wh or 6kwh per day. Imagine that in a camping situation where the truck is parked...or powering a small...

ā˜€ļø New Cybertruck tonneau patent mentions potential use as Solar Panel

I agree...fully opened or fully closed you can open the mid gate and it will lock the tonneau. Otherwise you would in essence be placing your head in a guillotine.

    A More Useful Frunk

I've been thinking about this...if you added a tonneau cover to the Lightning (or put down the tail gate) and there was some type of aftermarket hood you could get that was more sloped, would it give the Ford a better cd? Maybe the same battery pack would go +20 or 30 miles. Of course you are...

ā˜€ļø New Cybertruck tonneau patent mentions potential use as Solar Panel

Mid gate could still be easy if the opening is within the vertical tonneau tracks and the tonneau rolls up below the bed level. Add a sensor to deactivate tonneau operation when the mid gate is open. Also, the promised vault environmental control seems like it would be harder to achieve without...
