My understanding is that they did have base and upgrade systems early on but have done away with it because most early buyers were upgrading and the base components were just extra inventory to track, which Elon hates, so I believe all vehicles just get the equivalent of the upgraded system now...
There are 2 types of people in the world.
Those who have used/maintained CTIS systems and those who have not.
Only those who have not, ever want it. ;)
Just because it's one big body part doenst make it uni-body, whether it's structural or not does. If Tesla is claiming "stiffness" benefits of the casting+battery+casting design, then thats structural and thus a frame making the cars body on frame.
Im not saying CT wont have castings for...
All of their current models are "body on frame". That is to say that the passenger compartment is a separate part from the frame of the vehicle. The body removes from frame and the frame is the unit that provides all the rigidity for the vehicle.
Cybertruck will not have a passenger...
What? Yall are mixing up the mega castings as frame supports used in conjunction with a structural battery box....effectively a 3 piece frame, for the body on frame vehicles; with the need for mega castings being subframes for suspension because they are dual purpose in these vehicles...
Since CT is supposed to effectively be uni-body it's structure will either already include the area the batteries are located (battery compartment) or will not need the "battery box" to be structural. Therefore in either case the batteries would be replaceable as an entire "pack" as in the...
Cybertruck is supposed to be frameless so I would think there would not be a mega casting. Also it's not typically a good idea to use aluminum an steel together as galvanic reactions would eat the aluminum

For some reason this is selectable by users and so far EVERY one I've seen is wrong.
WIKI threads = "HOW TO" people, stop using this as a thread "marker" for attention.
We used to be able to turn that off and I had on a couple threads...
