Musk: Cybertruck dimensions (width + length) can be reduced without losing utility or aesthetics

Wow, this is getting silly. There aren’t any EV midsize SUVs or trucks that can tow and off-road. Closest is the Rivian that costs $30K more. “They are not going to buy it anyways.” How do you know that? Maybe it’s the people who don’t want any dimensions changed who won’t buy it. If Elon...

    Cold Batteries?

Ok but does it need to be plugged in constantly to use this thermoregulation system? Do you garage yours or park outdoors overnight? I’m trying to gauge downsides of parking outdoors vs garage.

    Cold Batteries?

With this recent discussion of size change for garage vs outdoor parking I wanted to get some more info re: cold batteries. I have heard that EVs suffer range loss in the cold but want to know how it works. Does it prevent it from fully charging or will it shrink the capacity of an already...

Musk: Cybertruck dimensions (width + length) can be reduced without losing utility or aesthetics

EV batteries don’t do well in the cold. So for half of the country this isn’t quite the same as parking an F150 outside.

Musk: Cybertruck dimensions (width + length) can be reduced without losing utility or aesthetics

This is tricky because they are trying to do everything in one size. Most pickups can be ordered as single or crew cab, long or short bed etc as needs (and garage size) dictates. Personally I’m conflicted. I want a useable back seat and I liked the 6’6” bed because I am 6’5” and I could sleep...

    Winterizing?

I’m curious if the whole thing is stainless (suspension, etc) or just the body/skin. If it is all stainless then rust won’t be a big concern. Also curious about parking outdoors in the winter. What effect will this have on battery and range? Will it be better if it is constantly plugged in to...

    Towing Range Expectations

Yes this is my biggest concern as well. It seems Tesla will offer their own trailer with extra battery so my question is which is the better buy? Extra 20K for tri over dual gets you an extra 200 mile range. How much will the battery trailer cost and how much range will that net?

Multispoke Production Wheels on Cybertruck in Workshop / Studio?

Good catch, so that was a different truck that they tested the balls on. Unless they changed the wheels before the reveal. I like these better.

    Cybertruck Tires

Covering the majority of flats isn’t good enough for me. I bought a car that came with a can of fix-a-flat instead of a spare and within a month I had a sidewalk blowout deep in the Navajo reservation. Fix kit was useless. I had to hike up a hill just to get reception, and then AAA told me there...

    Supercharging with a trailer

5 minutes sounds pretty good but you also have to find a place in that congested charging station to leave the trailer while you charge. Also I will be doing this alone so they had better have multiple camera angles showing the hitch to help me line it up...

    Supercharging with a trailer

I didn’t think of how air suspension helps with disconnect etc, but that is still a fairly big pain to have to disconnect every time you need to charge. That takes a 30-min stop and makes it close to an hour. I’d definitely appreciate it if they would add a charging port near the front that...

    Supercharging with a trailer

I’ve noticed that in most cases Teslas need to back in to superchargers because the port is in the back and the cord is very short. The CT appears to also have the port in the back which will be problematic if it is towing a trailer. Pull-through superchargers would be really nice but I don’t...

    R.V. applications

NEMA 14-50 would be good, and hopefully more RV parks will be installing these as EVs start towing. For the time being I think most parks only have 120V which will take days to fully charge the battery

Cybertruck drag coefficient may get down to 0.30 Cd - per Musk

I wonder what he means by “extreme effort?” Is this things that have already been done (mirror delete, flat underbody) or does he mean that owners can tape the panel gaps and add saucer hubcaps to get to .30 Cd? For what it’s worth my aerospace engineer friend says that abrupt angles like the...

Perhaps they could produce a smaller Cybertruck, given how well the truck is accepted

I’d be interested in a smaller version. I’m doubtful that the current CT would fit in my garage without some minor modifications (cutting a hole in a closet). It would also be much easier to maneuver and park in a city. I generally hate driving big things.

    Cybertruck bed width...?

I was curious too. Using the overhead image I measured the ratios and calculated 68”. Not an official figure.

    Charging Speed per Voltage

How long would it take to charge on a supercharger vs 240V setup vs standard 120V plug? Maybe easiest to talk in terms of miles of driving per hour of charge time because of the different capacities of battery available. I ordered a 2-motor but now I’m wondering if I might need to upgrade to...

    Remote Charging

A detachable battery would also be nice (as would the trailer with an auxiliary battery idea) but probably quite expensive. I like the portable generator idea for overland camping etc. I have heard that you need to be careful of the generator type to get one with a very consistent current to...

    New Members Welcome Area!

Hello from Northern Arizona. I’ve always been a car guy but haven’t jumped on the Tesla wagon yet (but I’d love it if they built a wagon ;-) I’ve been considering electric cars but needed something that can handle my 170-mile commute to work (several times per month), allow me to explore...

    Included options????

I also heard talk of solar panels in the bed cover that can give 15 miles charge per day. Cool idea that would be most useful when camping, except that most camper setups will require the bed cover to be retracted :-/
