I cannot get the controllers to connect via USB-C ports, but yes, I have to disconnect my phone, wait a minute or 2, then I am able to connect 2 PS5 controllers to play the 2 player games.

I just followed the instructions from Sony for the controllers: While pressing and holding the create button, press and hold the PS button until the light bar blinks Then on CT, go to Bluetooth and add device. I did not connect them to CT with a usb cable to pair. Only afterwards to charge.
