With an order number that "low", you'd probably be better off buying the truck and listing it on carsandbids or something. Rivians were still selling for $20k over asking 6 months after release.
But I heard MC stands for master candidate...
In all seriousness, thanks for the context. Very helpful, especially for those who haven't been this excited about a Tesla launch before or forgot what it was like the last few times.
I think that someone somewhere compared the initial delivery event of the 3/Y to when actual customers on the reservation list got their cars, and it was somewhere in the ballpark of 3-6 months afterwards. If that trend holds, then we're probably still not seeing many until April or so. But at...
I'll first recognize that your post was long and very thoughtful, and I appreciate that. But I will not respond to all of it - mostly because I have no major contention with anything you said. A few points though:
It'd be more accurate to say that my position is that I hope Tesla makes a 500...
While I agree that this has been Tesla's point and that maybe it's even a good point, I don't think it'll be very popular with consumers in general - including me. I like to drive 80 mph from where I live to a city that's 240 miles away. As an owner of two vehicles that nominally go 300+ miles...
Even asking about CT deliveries for 2024 is kind of missing the point - if we're looking for information on the start of deliveries, any number below maybe 500,000 still doesn't tell us when deliveries will start. They could deliver the first CTs in July of 2024 and maybe still hit that mark.**...
Yea, until a concerned citizen who parks beside you calls the cops on you because they think you left a dog in your truck. Then you get a ticket for having windows too dark to see through.
I'm not sure if this is a joke or not but...that is very obviously computer generated. The graphics are in line with what you'd see in video games 15 years ago.
What if this was all one big joke, and Elon tricked us into liking the idea of the Cybertruck so Tesla could sell us a bunch of doorstop-themed gadgets made of leftover factory scrap metal...
Such a beautiful color. I canceled my Rivian reservation when they canceled Compass Yellow and refused to honor my 2-year old preorder because I wanted the Max pack. I plan on wrapping my CT the same color as tribute to what could've been.
If it's anything like the other colors for the M3 and MY, we'll maybe get light steel, medium steel, dark steel, steel steel, clear, and Ultra Red.
As an aside, if someone with real photoshop skills could impose that yellow from the topic header picture over the full CT, that'd be much...
I was excited to see the colors, with the hope that since it's a wrap maybe they'd be going with bold colors. Instead all I see is Resale Value Grayscale, Dark Red, light red, Dark Green, and Light Blue. Why offer wraps if you're mostly offering colors you can buy on the car anyway?
Porsche...
Somehow all of us missed this public announcement. Unless the insider is just referring to the "limited production" bit, and considers the "first CT produced in Austin" news from July as the public announcement.
Given all the discussion here about RCs, MCs, crash tests, EPA certification, etc., my big question is whether Tesla would be producing this many castings for more tests, or if these are intended for actual production units - and what the latter would imply.
I'm the furthest thing from an...
