Got mine a week before yours. 1300 miles and just got this the morning after the recent software update...

The "Alert" from previous evening after software update showed "USB device...
I honestly have no idea. I just saw the email come the second time around and made sure to complete it. I'd guess they probably sent it out to everyone who didn't complete the original, just to have a better idea of who will receive the voucher.
At this point, I’m sure invitations are mostly randomized to keep a balance of morale throughout the long list of pre-orders. For what it’s worth, my FS invitation on 12/8 was sent to my second of three pre-orders; not the first.
You can request a "hold", which is an automatic 185-day grace period to complete your order. Your VIN is surrendered and given to the next person in line, but you don't lose "order". I requested it by text reply to the Tesla Rep when they told me my VIN was assigned and delivery would be within...
I think you have to be in Park for initial “Off-Road” access.
I agree. If there’s no damage to components, I’d hope a software update would open up On-Road/High for daily driving.
“On-road” mode will drop to medium once the speed-limited threshold is met. I believe 25mph. I was in Off-Road/High. This is a 22 mile highway drive to work, with no change in battery percentage used between that setting, medium, or low (current setting).
I could see initially offering FS units as a percentage of overall CT pre-orders. That could explain why the total FS unit count keeps surpassing everyone’s low estimates. Right before releasing the non-FS config, they could send final FS Invitation emails to all remaining Tesla accounts to lock...
At this point, only Tesla knows, if that. I would assume they’d send FS invites to the remaining pre-orders to lock in existing production units before cutover.
