  1. DIDN’T GET THE $7,500 FEDERAL TAX CREDIT!

You're omitting the context. Here is where that text is coming from : The title of the paragraph sets the limited context, and the further text clarifies it with the relevant examples. If that text was used in isolation at the top of the statute, or if it was attached to the paragraph(s)...
  2. DIDN’T GET THE $7,500 FEDERAL TAX CREDIT!

There is no such wording in the instructions last time I checked. From how I read it (and hence the need to defer to a CPA for the final opinion, since I am not a tax professional), if it's CAPABLE and AVAILABLE for use as a home backup battery then it qualifies for the battery credit. So the...
  3. DIDN’T GET THE $7,500 FEDERAL TAX CREDIT!

Do you live in your own house and have a setup for a backup generator ? You can try to claim your CT as the battery storage, ask your CPA about that.
  4. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

I was under the impression Weight Distribution hitches aren't needed because CT has a self-leveling air suspension. Normally WD takes out the sag out of the rear axle of the vehicle to keep more weight on the front, but CT does that by leveling the suspension.
  5. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

I'm mostly wondering what is the suspension doing at that time...
  6. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

Use a dynamic recovery rope for such applications.
  7. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

How does vehicle suspension play into that, especially something more advanced like the air suspension on the CT ?
  8. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

Why would a pothole create a surge in weight on the hitch ? What's the physics of that ?
  9. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

I am a bit skeptical of these claims. First of all, I believe the main deficiency of the aluminum alloys is in the alloys themselves (well-pronounced grain structure) and not the method of how these alloys are used (cast vs extrusion), even if post-processing does improve overall strength. Many...
  10. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

Either way general fatigue seems to be a bit of a red herring considering air frames are largely made out of aluminum alloys and are subjected to continuous dynamic loads.
  11. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

I suspect what you're referring to is the Fatigue Limit. Aren't we talking about loading in excess of the rated limits though, thus the Fatigue Limit would likely be exceeded even for steel ?
  12. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

Is metal fatigue specific to cast aluminum ?
  13. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

I get the inherent issue with Carbon Fiber, but what's the problem that is inherent to cast aluminum ?
  14. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

Jerry claims that the root of the problem there is the fact cast aluminum is "porous", thus the whole thing is weak. I believe that is inaccurate - indeed if gravity cast in ambient atmosphere, castings will have all kinds of issues. That's not what Tesla is doing - they're injecting molten...
  15. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

I can't picture the physics for that, so help me understand. First of all, out of 11k some 3k is the trailer itself and it can't shift. Trailers are fairly balanced around the axles and don't put much weight onto the hitch by themselves. Then we have the load, say an 8k skid steer. Let's...
  16. Public REACTIONS to Your Cybertruck (and Your Reaction)? [Admin Warning: NO POLITICS]

  17. Cybertruck Trailer Hitch/Casting Failure @10,400 lbs *VERTICAL LOAD*

Do we need to talk about "static" vs "dynamic" ? :)
