I want this future, Elon gives me hope and my niece and nephew tell me it's a certainty to happen but i have serious doubts about being alive to see it.
I can love Elon, Tesla, the mission and still be deeply disappointed on how ct news has been delay after delay. I understand the reasons for delays just not the lack of transparency.
Sounds like Tesla is doing awesome but there was no good news for us who care about ct. It was like they wanted to put the quarterly "give us an update on ct, semi, roadster" questions to bed for a whole year. I'm discouraged. The whole landscape it going to be different by the time ct...
I guess it's open to interpretation. I listened to him say it and what i took from it is that they were struggling to keep it affordable. It didn't sound like he was trying to reassure us that the prices would stay as previously quoted. It's just the feeling i got from his tone.
So they are focusing on profits, not on the number of models. I guess as long as that shows up in the stock price because it sounds like the ct is going to have a ton of new tech and cost more than originally stated.
I'm not an engineer so don't get all offended but now that i look at it i have to wonder how this could be an exo skeleton? Wouldn't the body have to wrap all the way around like an airplane? Once you remove the doors, glass, frunk, and tonneau cover there doesn't seem like enough body panels...
My thoughts,
Big ass wiper
Side mirror look like they are ready to take off once approval is made
Not every change is an upgrade but overall i'm ok with it and hope it improves.
The specs and price of the ct keep going up but at about the same rate as the stock price. I'm taking a "let tsla decide which truck i can afford" tactic. So far i've worked my way from single motor to tri motor so my fingers are crossed but I'm going to have a hard time justifying a 100k...
As for falling short of the size required to produce i remember the solar panels being on the back glass and the cover. However it works out will be progress over no solar.
Alpha-Beta, doesn't matter to me as long as when it does arrive it's well designed. They only get one shot at this and if the first ones are a piece of crap then no one will give future versions a chance.
The delay is disappointing but not surprising. What would really be a kick to the privates is to hang around for 3+ years only to have the price go up by $20k, making it no longer affordable.
As someone in their 50's who might be in their 60's or 70's before full level 5 is achieved i couldn't disagree with the author more. Perhaps he is in his 20's
