Both of these quotes are spot on and from my experience towing extensively with both a 100dMX and the Rivian R1T, I can tell you without a doubt, that the MX takes a lot bigger penalty due to its better aero drag component/efficiency while towing
This does worry me about having a 350-mile "ish"...
Wow. That window is almost pointless. Maybe save on the mechanicals and glass and just use the digital rear view camera (if legal?) Best part is no part?
What is the most important feature, to you? SS? The look in general? To me, my use of a powered decently sized frunk on the R1T is one of the most "functional" options I utilize pretty regularly. Easy access, lockable, keeps things organized for small tools/cable chargers, tie-down straps, etc...
Just a clarification, Model X (100KWH) battery compared to R1T (~135kwh?).
Yes, very similar conditions and load. R1T consistently reduces regen, even on smaller loads like my car trailer with my tractor on it. (I tow a lot!)
I'm not saying either vehicle is worse than towing with an ICE, both...
This is something that I really appreciate about the gear tunnel on my R1T. The tunnel is accessible from the rear seats via access hatch, thus if we keep the cab cool, the tunnel also stays relatively cool as well. The frunk not at all, quite the opposite. The heat pump/compressor seems to...

Seems like temporary battery packs would be really useful.
Optics-wise, might be an easy thing for ICE lovers to attack BEV on their inadequacy of being a real truck. Personally...
This..... I tow something pretty muchh every week, maybe twice a week (boat, dump trailer, RV, Car trailer) with my R1T, but I only need a range extender when pulling my RV for weekend long trips.
I could see being OK with 350-400mile CT to handle weekend boating trips, but renting a battery...
So you're saying while coasting down a hill with a 5k boat behind my MX, that it's feathering the brakes? Ehhh, I dunno about that. I could see feathering the brakes is possible if I set the cruise control at 60 and the regen couldn't keep up with slowing the vehicle on its own. That makes...
Major bummer if the frunk is as small as it seems..
The frunk is extremely valuable. An additional lockable and very convenient area to get to compared to a truck bed.
At some point I feel that Tesla is following more form than function for the sake of it cause that doesn't look functional...
You are probably correct in general, but I don't have that limitation on the 100kwh Model X compared to the 135 kWh R1T (same hill, same boat ModeL X never limits regen. I think it's more of a thermal limitation issue on the inverter/motor. Pretty lame really to force the use of brakes and its...
This was one of Rivian's stories about towing in the Mojave. They should have done more testing.. my R1T still maxes out regen with my 5k boat coming down from the Sierras and I have to use my brakes.. BLAH!
https://stories.rivian.com/hot-weather-towing
I'll just add from my experience with multiple Teslas and a Rivian.
Rivian R1T estimate of 315 Miles in "Normal" mode equates to an actual 315 Miles (if not better) @ 65mph... Model X 250miles estimate equates to ~200 miles.
So if Tesla publishes 350 Mile CT, that would not be a mileage...
""Ding, dong, the passthrough (theory) is dead!
Joining the ranks of other obviously fantasy theories; no mirrors/just cameras, laser wipers.""
Along with sail storage, tailgate ramp, top light-bar, and unless something drastic happens, not sure if 240v is in the cards either.. hope I'm...
I'm honestly a little concerned about the storage space. I really enjoy the large frunk, gear tunnel and extra large spare tire vault in the R1T (I don't have a spare tire). It seems the CT will have a large ample bed, but I like the separated storage space of the R1T. Most of the time when we...
Sorry if I came off boasting, it wasn't my intent. I was simply trying to make the point that sometimes it's nice to have faster charging, and if you're planning to tow with the CT as many will, having 40-50mph charging at home doesn't seem unreasonable.
If you must know, we keep our cars at...
Seems plausible for them to bring back the older single 72AMP single charger I have on my (old) 17'MX for the CT. I do enjoy getting 45-46 mph charge speeds on my MX.
I have a Gen II charger, which back in the day could charge at 80amps on my dual charger P85.... It was awesome to get 60mph...
Wife was there, I think it impressed her enough I can now get it :) Her take away.. " it was big!"

No Sail pillar storage:
zero signs this is a thing, no evidence thus far, and in-bed wall storage? Useless..
Less legroom in rear seats:
My R1t already is...
