To OP, can you get photos of the OEM soft tonneau that some buyers received? Would be interested in looking at the kit and components pre-install since it was user installed.
On all the aftermarket truck roll up tonneau, there is a mounting bracket and tensioner end which attaches on the bed...
I wished they made the Beast with dual permanent magnet motors in the rear. Since induction motors are used for free wheeling during efficiency. I am guessing the permanent magnet motors are too large to fit two on rear axle, or less efficient than two free wheeling induction motors.
or have a...
Correct, there are still inventory. They might be still building them, since the couple that won a RWD was a MY2026 VIN.
Pick-up truck tonneau are normally aftermarket. Majority truck owners probably don't have one. However, the Cybertruck is a specialty lifestyle truck, so is difficult sell...
Original plan was using the OEM soft cover then add flexible panels on top of it.
I was pondering on designing a standalone solar tonneau. Without a base it makes it less secure to hold down at highway speeds. Or it would have to be a semi-permanent approach, therefore make it more time...
Agree, it is very disappointing. I liked the basic nature of the RWD model, thus could live without other features of AWD. However, having any tonneau option for a pick-up truck is a must. If they had informed that there would be no tonneau option on RWD at all, I would have went with AWD.
After finding out it was cancelled, I was trying to find other truck aftermarket tonneau covers from Truxedo, weathertech etc. to try retrofit. If you do find a solution, I will be interested.
The photos of the soft tonneau I know of are the original official photos and the official video:
I was thinking WeatherTech was the supplier to make them, since looking at the rail latch, it looks similar to their covers for other trucks. However, I also contacted WeatherTech and not aware of developing it.
Who was the supplier that went bankrupt?
Interesting to know, so far I only heard people who pre-ordered were refunded. I haven't seen photos outside of the advertisements and the original install video on youtube (which is still up).
The Tesla parts catalog does not even list the soft cover part number, only the rails and other...
Just updated and short drive show more confident in the lane changes. That was the biggest downgrade from 14.1.7 to 14.2. Very slow and frustrating lane changes. Too much blinkers. The lane changing on 14.1.7 was perfect for my style of driving. Although, it did change lanes too much, but was...
14.1.7 was more realistic in the blinker action and lane change swiftness. 14.2 uses blinker too early and too much. Also, takes a long time to change lanes.
I like all the EV trucks. Rivian is it's unique own market and style. It's more like a EV Honda Ridgeline. Silverado/Sierra EV and Lightning are more traditional trucks and have familiar features moving from a gas Silverado or F-150. Styling, I like the Lightning's more traditional boxy truck...
Appears to be,
1. Foam on frunk lid for pedestrian safety.
2. Harness mods per social media instructions.
3. Add biconical antennas to intercept U.S. premium connectivity.
In a Monroe video, engineers talked about the suspension design in the Cybertruck that load on the upper control arm is minimal, thus the thin stamped steel used instead of the thick aluminum used in Rivian. However, not sure if going even slimmer upper control arm will cause issues.
It was unfortunate that the range extender did not come to fruition, although it is quite more complicated than a simple roll up cover.
Yes, this is the breakdown of all the parts. Parts Catalog
I have been studying the parts catalog and service manual; they have mostly everything installed...
I contacted the Tesla accessories department, and responded that it was discontinued and have no inventory. I asked the question on youtube comments of other RWD owners that had pre-ordered, they say they were told it was discontinued and refunded. I don't think Tesla ever released. It was to...
