Might be a hot take but I hate the angle/position of the stock chargers. One of the first upgrades I did was to get the bolt on bracket with the magsafe charger for the left pillar. Works great and much better visibility.

This is the easy answer. I typically keep it charged between 40-70% but I WFH and don't have very far to drive normally.

Not an issue with the settings. The only option would be chill mode which sounds like it would favor the slow lane. My problem doesn't happen all the time most of the time it will listen. This isn't user error, its a flaw in FSD.
