Thank you so much for taking the time to write, detailing tire blowouts and tire failure causes! You went way beyond, and I recognize the time you spent writing the above and truly appreciate it!
Now knowing low tire pressure is the number one cause of tire blowout, I will no longer drive with...
Thanks for sharing your experience! I'll have to research if the Cybertruck has the same process for limiting speed.
Wow, it sounds like you were very lucky, especially after going 138 mph! Back in the day, my partner and I were transporting a critically ill patient from NM to AZ. On that...
Thanks for the detailed info! I forgot how unique the CT is! It is reassuring that I do not need to be concerned with the sidebar's impact protection being physically lower when the CT is driving lower.
I know our Sequoia sits higher, and if I broadside many vehicles on the road, it will...
That's all I'm looking for....stability control. If there is no measurable difference, at this point, I would go with the dual motor over the Beast's tri-motor.
Thanks for writing!
With your post, along with another recent post, I'm learning that some blowouts cause significant damage. That's a lot of force! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Haha, I like your "side note"! I am fortunate in many ways, and while my spouse does not know any prices, the price would not...
That is what I understand as well. I also understood that on the Rivian with quad motors, once there is a blowout, the motors instantly apply more power to the wheel or side of the blowout to maintain driving direction. Supposedly, tri-motors behave the same way.
Thanks for posting!
That's a lot of damage! I'm starting to get the impression that not all tire blowouts are necessarily as bad as I have seen videos on, causing you to jerk off the highway.
Thanks for posting!
Wow! I never knew that! A year ago, with our Sequoia, I ran over a drill bit that somehow punctured the back right tire's sidewall. I was driving on the highway and was about 5 miles from my office. I saw the tire low-pressure warning light come on and slowed, finally reaching my office...
Thanks for sharing your story! One would think that at that speed, things could have been worse, and it is nice to read that there were no serious issues. You definitely have the driving skills to handle a scenario like that. I hope never to have to find out how my driving skills react.
You...
Thanks for writing! I have never experienced a blowout and hope I never will. Maintaining tire maintenance with proper air pressure and rotations goes a long way toward safety.
You got me thinking, I wonder what is the #1 main cause of a tire blowout....tire pressure? Object in the road?
I was considering a Cybertruck to replace my Sequoia. I need cargo room and was initially not considering buying a spare. However, I see a lot of owners buy a spare.
Do you know how much space (~51" width by ?? length) your tire is taking up?
Btw, I have been following your thread and love...
You definitely make sense. I'm surprised I haven't read or heard of a tire blowout in a CT since there are at least 50,000 (?) on the road now.
I would buy the CyberBeast if it made a measurable difference in safety. I do not need the extra speed or power. As for FSD, I believe it is cheaper...
Like the pictures with those colors and the "buyer's remorse" statement! Now that you mentioned a spare tire, I never really considered that, and that will take up precious cargo space I need. I was thinking of using a "fix a flat" can or something similar for potential flats.
I'm curious...
Thanks for sharing your experience and picture! That's great to read that the CT did awesome with no steering problems. I would have thought that the blowout on the trailer would have been difficult to control and would have increased the chance of fishtailing.
Was the CT using FSD when the...
Thanks for commenting! I have Tesla's app and have our Kia EV9 listed in it. I don't believe I can add a Cybertruck to it without owning one and providing its VIN, etc. If you know another way to add it, please let me know.
I realize there is an efficiency issue due to the speed, the size...
I appreciate the posting! I assumed that if you were in Beast mode, then it would stay in Beast mode when using FSD.
If it doesn't stay in Beast mode when using FSD, then that settles it, as I would use FSD as much as possible, especially when driving on long trips. Thus, if it goes into...
Thanks for sharing your experience! As others, along with you, have written, I'm probably overthinking and giving too much weight to the subject matter.
Still, if there is a measurable difference in safety, that would be a benefit. I wonder how effective the CT's low tire pressure sensor...
