Did the same. Used a dremel. Took off maybe 1-2 mm. Looks crappy but disappears when it locks in which it now does easily and securely in any if the spaces.

I’ve found that if I put it in “Hurry” mode and then dial the Max speed down to my desired MPH that it works great. It will always try to run at the Max set point. Only problem is every time it passes a different speed limit sign it will default back to the Original max
