Confirmed by engineering in Austin that it is not a firmware problem. This is a recall Tesla is sliding under the radar. It’s an issue with the board on the inverter of the motor. Only fix is a front drive unit replacement

I had my front drive unit replaced in my beast. Wouldn’t go past 114mph. Now with the new front drive unit the car has a loud metal shriek sound above 85mph Taking it back in

I don’t think this is accurate. Your local parts department should have a boatload of these in stock by now…. If your service team is cool they will just grab 4 and assign them to your VIN. They 100% have the power to do it.
