You may need to try another SC if yours wonāt replace the FDU for this issue. Try talking to the service manager if possible and reference the same issue happening to many early FDUās in this post. Mine was also A LOT louder in the winter.
see my last post:
āTo get the parts info go into service mode/High Voltage ā”/Drive Unit, Press the Green FDU or RDU on the display/Parts info/Run, follow the instructions to press the R turn signal & Brake pedal.ā Bladabing
My ā24 Beast vin 34xxx, My wifeās ā26 AWD vin is 87xxx.
Just had the ā24 Beast FDU replaced with new 1920000-T1-L which fixed the bearing noises at zero throttle. The ā26 AWD has the 1930000-TX-G FDU and the RDU has the 1920000-TX-M.

They will inspect the halfshafts for damage/wear when they replace the bolts for that SB. The fact that you hear the noise when itās cold more tells me itās probably the FDU though.
Seems about the same with 14.3.3, but sometimes doesnāt do it so much, but overall better IMO than previous software versions. Only had 14.3.3 for several days now though.
Main reason for the service visit was to replace the failed PCS, then several other issues I had been holding off on since the SC is more than 2 hrs drive. I was happily surprised they took care of the FDU rattle as well. Great SC to deal with.
Update on my Beast: Tesla replaced the FDU to the latest FDU rev L and I can confirm the bad bearing, flutter, crackling noises are gone, plus itās much quieter overall. South County St Louis Tesla did a GREAT JOB!
New Update: I can confirm after driving with the new FDU the last several days...
Update, bit the bullet and drive to the nearest SuperCharger and it works.
Coincidentally, while supercharging I received a call from Tesla stating that I had received the update to enable supercharging. Thrilled to be able to use my truck till SC appt and the threat of having to tow gone now...
Yes! Just showed up today on my app under specs -90 days free supercharging from the date that I got the notice āAC Charging unavailableā on my CB display.
Update: Tesla added 90 days of free supercharging to my VIN. So thatās pretty great as long as I can still supercharge and still get my PCS replaced at my April 30th appt.
Thanks, good info, the SC didnāt explain further what this āupdate rolloutā did other than covering the Supercharging costs assuming DC Supercharging works.
No unfortunately, there are no third-party Superchargers in my city. According to my Tesla Service Center, the update is to enable Free Tesla Supercharging for āAC unable to chargeā PCS failures till they can be fixed and that supercharging SHOULD work during that time. It was my understanding...
Latest info from my Tesla SC for my CB vin 34xxx, AC Charging unavailable, parts in transit SC appt on May 30.
Telsa said I should see a notice when they push the update for free supercharging while I wait for my SC appt. Otherwise, any supercharging I do after AC charging became unavailable...
CB vin 34xxx PCS failure, AC unable to charge notice. Early sign was home charging 2% less than what was set (78% instead of 80%) 2X, then only charging about 6%, then AC charging unavailable error. Soonest Tesla SC appt scheduled in 10 days, 2-1/2 hrs away (parts in transit), Supercharger 30...
