Old school rear view mirror camera housing - custom DIY

The housing is attached with 8 10-32 100 degree countersunk brass instrument screws. Available from Aircraft Spruce and others. I used a soft rubber grommet for the cable pass through. The weatherstrip seal is the same thing used to seal outdoor ductwork.

Old school rear view mirror camera housing - custom DIY

Looking at it from outside, we drilled a hole just to the right of the back glass as in this photo. We drilled it from the inside so if you do the same be sure and measure carefully so you don’t hit the glass. There is a wire harness above the side curtain airbags you can zip tie the cable to...

Old school rear view mirror camera housing - custom DIY

I’ve seen a few really nice 3D printed camera housings but unfortunately, I don’t own a printer at this time. So instead, I bent this up out of one scrap piece of 2024 T3 Alclad aluminum. I decided to route the cable through the interior rather than take the chance of causing wind noise by going...

Has anyone been confronted for owning a Cybertruck? [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

Mostly positive here but it does look like it was designed to be in your face so bound to get some negative attention.

    Any regrets after buying Cybertruck?

No regrets about the truck itself but if you need PowerShare and have solar panels with powerwall 2 don’t hold your breath. I got the truck in March and never received the hardware or software. Tesla vehicle service referred me to the powerwall team and they referred me to Tesla vehicle service. ?

Getting the cargo vault divider to fit.

Instructions for properly removing/reinstalling the bed side liners are in the repair manual. Best to follow those to avoid breaking clips, etc. They don’t have to all be completely removed, just enough to gain access. I’ll take photos if we do another one.

Getting the cargo vault divider to fit.

Remove the plastic side covers to gain access to the left and right cargo track rails and loosen their attaching screws. Then, using large screwdriver or short pry bar push the rails up as high as possible and retorque the attaching screws while applying good pressure. (Helps to have another...

I have both. The Plaid with track package has been parked since I got the truck.

Question for owners: has your Cybertruck been issue / problem free?

Yes, 3000 miles no issues. Also have a Plaid with the track package. It's been parked since the truck came on March 30.

Fixed Vault Cargo Divider replacements being sent by Tesla

Same here. I’m taking the side panels off to try and understand what’s wrong.

Build quality, service issues reality check.

First, some background. We own seven Teslas, A Cybertruck, performance M3, 2 Model X's, one M3, 2 Plaids, (one with the track package). We are in the business of providing out of warranty related, unscheduled repairs on Teslas since 2014 and nearly everything else since 1978. That's longhand for...

Bar Keepers Friend changed my Cybertruck's finish!

Just wipe it off with naphtha or alcohol. Then try two or three other stainless polishes. Wipe the ones off that are not to your liking. If none are good then just wipe the whole thing off with more naphtha or alcohol. It will look new again. Most products leave a residue. I used some cheap...

Some observations from conventional pickup truck owners

Yes, With high ground clearance and 4 wheel steering by wire it would be a really maneuverable plow truck If the engineering could be worked out.

Some observations from conventional pickup truck owners

My apology. I was wrong to post this without background or proper contextual explanation. I've spent my life designing products (industrial designer), studying and living within the human-machine interface (Commercial pilot with many thousands of flight hours), working with my hands (automotive...

Some observations from conventional pickup truck owners

If you are plowing snow, driving off road in really challenging terrain frequently, hauling a heavy trailer long distances, making content for clicks or other special use cases, then a conventional pickup still makes sense. Ford surveyed pickup owners and found over 80-85% rarely or ever do...
