PowerShare + Cybertruck saved us a 24 hour power outage

Powershare software isn't live yet, so how did it help you? It do you just mean the outlets on the truck helped you?

    Back to basics

I think spec is 205lbs of torque. A service technician just came to my house. Of the 3 other wheels that were not part of the issue? A minimum of 5 of the 6 were not torqued to spec. Technician had to add an additional 1/8 of a turn at most to the lugs. A few were less of a turn, but many of...

    Back to basics

I wasn't checking my lug nuts adequately, and apparently went from March to a week ago with only 4, then 3, then 2 lug nuts. And my car was serviced/observed by Tesla Upland TWICE during that time, and they didn't notice the lug nuts missing. Then they claimed they take photos on intake and...

Check your Dashcam drive to make sure it's recording properly

I received my Cybertruck on February 1, but never really checked the functionality of the USB drive. I assumed it was working after the screen indicated it was recording, but on the settings main screen it said "Not recording". Another CT driver was in an accident, and when he went to review...

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

They didn't contact me, I made the service appointment about it. At this time, I think it was just rail dust.

Must not be too much of a dealbreaker, they're still selling...

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

You can use the touchless car wash, but it won't remove the spots. Remove the spots with the BKF, and then wash your car as normal.

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

I really think it was just an oversight in the delivery process. CT's were delivered in TX in December and January, but the spots story never appeared until it was vehicles shipped to California or other states. I think the delivery should have included cleaning off rail dust from an unpainted...

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

I'll be honest: I think Tesla is selling and delivering these cars before they were prepared for it. I do think it's rail dust or outside contaminants, I just don't think Tesla told the delivery centers how to properly clean the CT before delivery. Tesla always does a wash and detail before...

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

I have a service appointment early March to address this, I have a feeling they're just going to use an equivalent of Barkeeper's Friend to remove the spots and then go over the surface with high grit sander or something? Should it be present in a vehicle at delivery? No. Did it stop me from...

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

I definitely will. I want to see what Tesla intends as their "final fix" before I try the ProtectaClear. However, the BKF "Soft" (liquid), then water, then Windex cleaned it up really well.

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

Chemical Guys Iron Decon spray was applied and left to work. No purple residue or anything indicating any remaining contamination was present. Wonder if Tesla is aware of how to clean their own CT when it arrives at a service center for delivery. Barkeeper's Friend to clean it off, water to...

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

I'm about to go try Chemical Guys Iron Decon spray where I cleaned already, to see if it pulls additional corrosion that I can't see.

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

Cleaned it off with denatured alcohol, looks great now that it's dried out a bit. I'll keep an eye on it overnight.

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

Iron Decon didn't work as quickly, but the BKF took the contaminants right off. I did a whole panel just to illustrate. Attached are before and after pics (I tested on a small part on the other side, worked well, so I went for the whole panel on the other side of the car). Pardon the streaks.

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

I don't want to do too much that makes Tesla hesitant to service the vehicle, especially with a service appointment scheduled and their "plan" ready to go.

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

Interesting! I don't know much about metal and corrosion, thank you for that info!

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

That doesn't seem like a long term solution for Tesla: every 11 days, advise owner to sand down exterior? I have to believe there's a finish that they're going to be compelled to apply, but right now it seems like they have a plan.

    Cybertruck spots/corrosion

That's fine, I think owners should have the opportunity to choose the aesthetics of their car within the confines of what they deliver (body shape).
