I think the process is different now. I originally got an email from Tesla asking me if I was interested in the backup. I filled out a questionnaire and they said I qualified. Next thing I knew, I got an email from Treehouse to coordinate everything.
Sorry, that’s not much help.
Solved my multiple homes app issue. Posting in case someone else has the trouble. Shoutout to Tesla Motors Club where I found the solution.
I cannot get the support chat to work. I click “Chat With Us,” it turns gray, but no chat initiated. So, I called.

I’m not sure I ever posted the final wiring:
They ended up feeding the Gateway with a 125A breaker from the main old breaker box (not the 60A they originally installed).
Then they also moved 6 circuits I selected from the old breaker box to the Gateway for backup (Refrigerator, home internet...
Here you go.
Not sure about the wiring question. No doubt you could connect two chargers, but not being an electrician, I’m not sure about the back feed system.
Update: My app just added the tutorial and then ability to turn on PowerShare under controls.
The installers finished on 7/16 and emailed me 7/18 that the permit was fully approved. App just had the option when I check (7/22). I looked earlier in the day today and it wasn’t there. CT has been...
I can only speak to my R8 and I wouldn’t consider it’s laser excellent.
I got pulled over and the motorcycle cop said he got me on LIDAR. R8 never went off.
I was also on the freeway and it didn’t go off for radar or laser and the guy behind me got pulled over by an SUV cop on the side of the...
Thank you!
They have agreed the 60A isn’t appropriate and have proposed to use a 125A to feed the gateway. Then select circuits to move over to the gateway to have backup capability.
Thanks!
Any big cons of forcing them to move the main feed to the gateway and then backing up the entire old box via the “External Backup Circuits” feed? Of course I’d need to flip off what I don’t want before turning on PowerShare to ensure it’s under 11.5kw.
As I posted on another thread...
Out of curiosity, why don’t you like this option of full backup? Risk of overloading?
Isn’t it the most flexible? For example, AC will take up 2 of my remaining slots. I may not want AC if it’s winter, but would if summer, so this flexibility of picking whatever I want seem intriguing.
With...
I don’t have faith in my install, so confirming. For your install, did they do this, which is what they did for me:
1. Left main line into old breaker box
2. Added a dual 60amp in the old breaker box and ran to input of the gateway.
3. Added dual 60amp in gateway and run line to Universal...
What circuits are you moving to the Gateway?
Electrician is asking what I want to move.
If I understand this, I can have up to 11.3kw, right? It’s not that I can only pick 60amps of circuit breakers.
- I assume refrigerator
- Various lights
- Outlet for modem/router
- AC? Looks like 3-4...
Thank you! Looks like I’m on #3 as well.
What I’ve read, and not sure if true, is that pictures get sent back to Tesla from the installer and then they activate when confirming accurate install. I’m not sure if this also means city inspector approval too, or not.
If this is true, it may be...
Does your CT/App have the option for PowerShare backup? Mine doesn’t, but my CT version and app version are up to date. Sounds like at some point they will push it?
Just had mine installed today. What a cluster. The company had never done it and I don’t think they did it right.
1. Did they move your circuits to the gateway from your existing breaker box, or have wires out the bottom of the gateway to the “External Circuit Backups?” Mine did neither. I...
