I had chase as the lender it took 24 hours to be able to call in and request the buy out number. The entire process took less than a week because I already had a lender ready to go.
So I knew what I was going to do so I put 18k out of pocket and then the early buy out number was $59k. That was with tax and the extra fees you pay. If I were to just buy it with tax, it would have been almost 84k
I went through with the lease and buy last month. It saved about $6k from buying it upfront. There are a few additional fees so you don’t save the entire $7500 but still a better deal. It was super easy as well.
Not sure how maybe they switched components when they closed the line for 3 days. Either way the IRS officially lists it on their site and I bet tomorrow Tesla will start posting it on the cybertruck order page
It’s in the signed lease agreement I have in my documents. I have chase as the lender it takes about a week to show up on the app. It even calls out exactly what you would pay if you do it early.
Each state could be different, it’s not factored into the down payment per se, but it is factored into the adjusted capitalized cost right out of the gate no matter how much you put down. Mine is $3250 and if you are buying out the adjusted lease balance, that 3250 is already baked into it.
That’s what I thought but a sales tax/use tax was already added to the gross capitalized cost so if there is then additional sales tax on the purchase, it’s a double tax.
The only thing I am unclear on is if you are double taxed on the situation. They put the sales tax/use tax into the adjusted cap cost and wonder if you then get taxed again on the buyout.
They are either not well versed on it yet or are not legally able to promote buying out the lease. If you look at section 32 and then the terms defined, it will clearly state what you would legally pay for it
section 32 states the adjusted lease balance plus purchase option fee is what is due...
It’s so new they are not well versed on any of that especially with the end of the year push. Their lease agreements have been updated and you can buy out at any time AS IS and the “rent” charges will be deducted from what you owe.
I still find it hard to believe we haven’t heard from anyone who has actually completed the early buyout on cyber truck. I’ve send the quote requests but haven’t heard anyone actually completing it.
