  1. Will the global chip shortage impact Cybertruck deliveries?

I hate to say it, but it will. It’s hitting everywhere. We’re already planning for this mess at work. We’re good for awhile, but already planning for the worst, knowing it’s almost unavoidable.
  2. CyberLandr Camper / Overlander Concept for Cybertruck [$150M reservations as of 2/24/23]

If they want my money, go ahead and put a 6’2” human in the video comfortably sleeping.
  3. CyberLandr Camper / Overlander Concept for Cybertruck [$150M reservations as of 2/24/23]

Yep. This just screams “camper by someone who’s never been camping to sell to someone who’s never been camping.” I already have a full sized truck, and I know a queen sized bed won’t fit. Not even a twin. I love the concept, but ditch the bathroom wall and make it one big useable space.
  4. Operating a Cyber Truck Fleet

I 100% agree. Having built up and sold off two small businesses (both for a nice little profit), I’m trying to point out the risks and flaws. I’m pretty sure you’re doing the same. I’m not trying to be a naysayer, but I don’t want to see someone who’s got a good start in life have things go...
  5. Operating a Cyber Truck Fleet

Let’s not forget the elephant in the room. You’re at the whim of legislators. A couple accidents here and there could easily lead to rash decisions to ban them again (assuming they’re legal anytime soon). Then you’d be sitting on twenty depreciated, financed vehicles. That’d be a bad day.
  6. CyberLandr Camper / Overlander Concept for Cybertruck [$150M reservations as of 2/24/23]

Even as a soft sided concept, I like the design, they’re just trying to fit too much in to too little space. I’m tall, but not anything crazy, and know I wouldn’t fit in that “double bed.” I love the exterior design though.
  7. CyberLandr Camper / Overlander Concept for Cybertruck [$150M reservations as of 2/24/23]

I’m not sure how I’d be able to sleep in that thing. The measurements just don’t add up. However, I would LOVE if they sold it as an empty shell. Basically, just a hard sided tent with a couple outlets and climate control.
  8. Concerned about safety when driving your Cybertruck?

I’m not going to bother with any film. After dealing with a bunch of punk kids that were constantly vandalizing cars, mine included, I learned that one of the silly “life hacks” actually works amazingly. If someone spray paints your truck, it literally wipes right off for the first 24 hours or...
  9. Operating a Cyber Truck Fleet

You’re definitely right on that. I was just generalizing. Some clean ups will be a two minute affair, and some will be a drunk that puked. I was just going off what the people who drive for Uber have told me, but that’s with adult supervision in the car! Lol! Sadly, I’d expect far worse...
  10. Operating a Cyber Truck Fleet

Don’t forget to factor in all your additional costs. You’ll need space to park 20 trucks. You’ll also need to clean 20 trucks a day. Plus there’s even simple things like frequent plugging/unplugging. This won’t be a side gig. You’ll either have to hire people or make this a real job. Edit: I’d...
  11. Cybertruck Production Earlier Than Expected? Pilot line being built @ Fremont

I’m game, but it’s silly, so let’s stay friendly. How about a twelve pack of your best local beer versus mine?
  12. Cybertruck Production Earlier Than Expected? Pilot line being built @ Fremont

And Tesla has quality control nightmares. The fans can write it off, but it’s stuff I’d be ashamed of. I’m not trashing Tesla. They are learning. Part of that learning is why they are headhunting folks like me. I make my living by designing systems to make sure the product is perfect when it...
  13. Cybertruck Production Earlier Than Expected? Pilot line being built @ Fremont

Efficiency only fixes so much. There’s simply no way around the fact that some processes are slow. That can be worked around, but it adds to production costs. You mention “traditional car building” as a bad thing. Those guys have it dialed in. Tesla doesn’t. There’s a reason Tesla recruiters...
  14. Cybertruck Production Earlier Than Expected? Pilot line being built @ Fremont

This is actually completely normal for any major manufacturer and doesn’t really imply anything is ahead of schedule. Designing assembly lines is a big part of what I do for a living. New assembly lines are frequently built and tested off site due to either space or time constraints. This lets a...
  15. [CLOSED DUE TO POLITICS] "White House considers vehicle mileage tax to fund infrastructure"

Don’t worry, I could go off all day on why my county is one of the four in the whole state forced into this nonsense. However, it’s nothing like the DMV. It takes all of about five minutes, and that includes waiting in line. I’ve actually come to appreciate it only because some sneaky politician...
  16. [CLOSED DUE TO POLITICS] "White House considers vehicle mileage tax to fund infrastructure"

Why? They record the mileage every time I bring my car or truck in for its emissions inspection. What would this extra person do?
  17. [CLOSED DUE TO POLITICS] "White House considers vehicle mileage tax to fund infrastructure"

Sure they are. I’ve even got the software to do it on one of my two vehicles. However, like most people, I’ve got a decent job and would choose paying a few bucks in taxes over prison. I’m pretty sure the vast majority has the same mindset.
  18. [CLOSED DUE TO POLITICS] "White House considers vehicle mileage tax to fund infrastructure"

I just think it’s only fair to pay my fair share as a future EV owner. Just think about it for a moment. EV’s are a bit “chunky” when compared to ICE vehicles. That weight puts lots of wear and tear on the roads. Unless you think FSD will work on a broken down dirt road, we have to pay our portion.
  19. [CLOSED DUE TO POLITICS] "White House considers vehicle mileage tax to fund infrastructure"

It’s an easy solution. When you renew your plates, they check your odometer. Pay for the miles driven. I drive a lot more miles than the average person, which unfortunately means I should pay more. It’s only fair.
  20. [CLOSED DUE TO POLITICS] "White House considers vehicle mileage tax to fund infrastructure"

Actually, I’m with the government on this. Most states pay for their roads with a gas tax. An EV puts the same wear and tear (if not more) on the roads. Miles driven just makes more sense. And I’m a guy who drives 90 miles a day commuting.
