  1. HF, VHF/UHF antenna (for HAM radio) install on my Cybertruck, works really well! ๐Ÿ“ถ

The Scorpion will look great on Cybertruck! I might go to IDXC on Saturday, thank you for pointing this out! My tank will be easy to spot in the parking lot. :) For powering my IC-705, I am using a USB-PD 15V "trigger" cable... At ~2A load I get a ~0.5V drop across the cable. Maximum voltage...
  2. HF, VHF/UHF antenna (for HAM radio) install on my Cybertruck, works really well! ๐Ÿ“ถ

That's possible as well!... "Amateur Radio (ham radio) is a hobby and service that brings people, electronics and communication together". The fun thing is that you can use a lot of power (up to 1500 watts) on shortwave (worldwide), VHF, UHF and microwave bands using voice and digital modes.
  3. HF, VHF/UHF antenna (for HAM radio) install on my Cybertruck, works really well! ๐Ÿ“ถ

I have a Model Y 2021-ish, the one with the heat pump. I get broadband HF noise when accelerating and when turning on the HVAC everything goes to S9. VHF/UHF is clean. Maybe it is due to my poor setup, I have lip-mounts installed on the trunk, probably not the best ground plane, no ground strapping.
  4. HF, VHF/UHF antenna (for HAM radio) install on my Cybertruck, works really well! ๐Ÿ“ถ

'73s. My call sign is KN6KEZ (Pleasanton, California). Good to know so many HAMs are into Cybertruck, awesome machine. :)
  5. HF, VHF/UHF antenna (for HAM radio) install on my Cybertruck, works really well! ๐Ÿ“ถ

Yes, 15V or 12V USB-PD trigger cables will work with IC-705, please make sure you get the 5.5mm 2.5mm connector option (2.1mm won't fit).
  6. HF, VHF/UHF antenna (for HAM radio) install on my Cybertruck, works really well! ๐Ÿ“ถ

    >I'm curious what were the main considerations with regard to deciding upon a left or right side >mount. I clipped two antenna lip-mounts on both sides, the left side is for HF, the right side is VHF/UHF. My main consideration was to avoid the HV cables as much as possible (right side = better...
  7. HF, VHF/UHF antenna (for HAM radio) install on my Cybertruck, works really well! ๐Ÿ“ถ

LOL, Yes! Even with the whip disconnected I can still receive signal... The other half of the dipole is the Cybertruck body!
  8. HF, VHF/UHF antenna (for HAM radio) install on my Cybertruck, works really well! ๐Ÿ“ถ

Additional note: The KS-400 lipmount is kinda expensive ($89), if you want an IDENTICAL heavy huty mount in stanless steel (has much better chassis ohmic resistance), buy this one, it includes a VHF/UHF high gain antenna ($35 for both!)
  9. HF, VHF/UHF antenna (for HAM radio) install on my Cybertruck, works really well! ๐Ÿ“ถ

I hope I can find a way through the truck bed 'firewall" (bulkhead). For the radio mounting, I am still researching how to use the giant dashboard without drilling.... For now I used the cell phone charging tray it perfectly holds the IC-705 (but no phone) and occasionally there is a strong...
  10. HF, VHF/UHF antenna (for HAM radio) install on my Cybertruck, works really well! ๐Ÿ“ถ

NOTE: For the test I used WSPR. If you are wondering what the data rate is: a whopping 1.5bps, yes, around 1bit per second. :)
  11. HF, VHF/UHF antenna (for HAM radio) install on my Cybertruck, works really well! ๐Ÿ“ถ

With just 1 watt I was able to reach Japan, China, Russia, Australia, Morocco, Spain and Denmark! Cybetruck makes the perfect ground plane for an antenna! Previous experiences with Model Y were not so good. Cybertruck is def. the quietest electric vehicle, RFI-wise. I managed to install an HF...
  12. How to route an antenna cable?

Progressive crash structure? Still, it looks very strange, the orange gap is huge.
  13. How to route an antenna cable?

Here is the wiring in the back of the cybertruck. Also shows the warterproofing.
  14. How to route an antenna cable?

    >I'm wondering how hard it will be to go from the frunk into the cab. Or in other words, is there really >a firewall still there? See the cable marked with blue, it penetrates the firewall. Dunno if the same pathway can be used, I am sure it is waterproofed somehow. 1st picture I took it at the...
  15. How to route an antenna cable?

Hitch mount always looks good. :) IMHO, best place would be on the truck bed sides, but the top is plastic, might involve drilling and could be unstable.
  16. HAM radio antenna mount options

I will be trying this to charge a small 12V LFP battery. https://www.amazon.com/Teyleten-Robot-Bidirectional-Buck-Boost-High-Power/dp/B0B7RT7CF4
  17. How to route an antenna cable?

Any suggestions on how I can run a thin coax from inside the cabin to the outside for VHF/UHF/HF antennas? I am thinking of using the Light Bar Accessory port and have the antennas mounted on roof rack rails (provided that the rails are electrically connected to the chassis) I still prefer...
  18. Cybertruck has dual 8" subwoofers! ๐Ÿ”Š ๐Ÿ”Š

Yes., a 12" speaker has slightly more area than two 8" speakers but the clarity and DSP on two smaller speakers surpass the advantages of a signle 12". Think road noise cancellation. (road noise frequency is ~200HZ)
  19. Cybertruck has dual 8" subwoofers! ๐Ÿ”Š ๐Ÿ”Š

IMHO, there is a lot of DSP in modern sound systems and provided that you have multiple microphones the sound from many "tiny speakers" can produce big sound. Also, I think it will be excellent for road noise cancellation (more granularity in delivering the opposite wave phase).
  20. Cybertruck has dual 8" subwoofers! ๐Ÿ”Š ๐Ÿ”Š

The cabin has more volume thus more work for the subwoofers. Having 2 subwoofers allows for more clarity + DSP capabilities applications such as noise reduction -- I believe subwoofers are an excellent match for the road/ tire frequency domain. Exciting stuff, IMHO!
